Wykeham House School
Wykeham House School is a former independent day school for girls and boys in market town of Fareham, Hampshire in South East England. Until its closure Wykeham House School was the only school in the Borough of Fareham offering specialised single sex education for both girls and boys. In October 2015 the proprietors of neighbouring Boundary Oak School disclosed to parents that they were in discussion with Wykeham House School for a possible acquisition or merger. In response, Wykeham House School invited parents of Wykeham House pupils to an urgent meeting on 15 October 2015 at which the existence of confidential merger discussions was confirmed. A subsequent reduction in pupil numbers at Wykeham House led to Wykeham House School formally announcing its closure on 12 November 2015. In the United Kingdom, private schools or independent schools are fee-charging schools, some endowed and governed by a board of governors and some in private ownership. MyDaughter
MyDaughter was a British website set up by the Girls' Schools Association (GSA) offering advice to parents of daughters on all aspects of raising and educating girls. Advice was provided by headteachers from the member schools of the Girls' Schools Association and other specialists in fields such as nutrition, psychology, health education and business. History MyDaughter.co.uk was launched in January 2009 following a survey of a thousand parents of daughters, which highlighted a range of topics that were a cause of anxiety to parents. The research revealed that parents wanted help and advice on how to deal with these issues. Independent Schools Inspectorate
The Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) is approved by the Secretary of State for Education – under section 106 of the Education and Skills Act 2008 – to inspect independent schools in England. These schools are members of associations, which form the Independent Schools Council. Role and remit ISI is a not-for-profit company limited by guarantee, with a board of independent directors. As required by law, ISI is independent of the schools it inspects and accountable to the Department for Education.
