Wycombe District

	Wycombe District Wycombe District was a local government district in Buckinghamshire in south-central England. Its council was based in the town of High Wycombe. The district was abolished on 31 March 2020 and its area is now administered by the unitary Buckinghamshire Council. It had introduced locality budgets before October 2013. History The district's name was drawn from the Barony of Wycombe which was originally given to Thomas Gilbert, in 1171. The district was formed on 1 April 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972, by the merger of the Municipal Borough of High Wycombe with Marlow Urban District and Wycombe Rural District. 	Greg Smith (British Politician) Greg David Smith (born 3 March 1979) is a British Conservative politician. Previously deputy leader of Hammersmith and Fulham Council, he has been the Member of Parliament (MP) for the Buckingham constituency since the 2019 general election. Early life Smith studied at Bromsgrove School and then the University of Birmingham. He has had a career in design and marketing. Smith was a trustee of Riverside Studios from 2008 to 2019. Career Smith was a councillor on Hammersmith and Fulham Council between May 2006 and May 2018, and was also deputy leader of the council. In 2014, the Conservatives lost control of the council to Labour in the local elections, and Smith was appointed as Leader of the Conservative group. He stood down from the council in the 2018 elections. At the 2017 general election, he stood as the Conservative candidate in Hayes and Harlington, which has generally been a safe seat for the Labour Party in recent years. picture info	Princes Risborough Princes Risborough () is a market town in Buckinghamshire, England, about south of Aylesbury and north west of High Wycombe. It lies at the foot of the Chiltern Hills, at the north end of a gap or pass through the Chilterns, the south end of which is at West Wycombe. The A4010 road follows this route from West Wycombe through the town and then on to Aylesbury. Historically it was both a manor and an ecclesiastical parish, of the same extent as the manor, which comprised the present ecclesiastical parish of Princes Risborough (excluding Ilmer) and also the present ecclesiastical parish of Lacey Green, which became a separate parish in the 19th century. 	Wycombe Rural District Wycombe Rural District was, from 1894 to 1974, a rural district in the administrative county of Buckinghamshire, England. Origins The district had its origins in the Wycombe Poor Law Union, which had been created in 1835, covering High Wycombe and several surrounding parishes. In 1872 sanitary districts were established, giving public health and local government responsibilities for rural areas to the existing boards of guardians of poor law unions. The Wycombe Rural Sanitary District therefore covered the area of the poor law union except for the town of High Wycombe, which was a municipal borough (officially called Chepping Wycombe until 1946) and so became its own urban sanitary district. The Wycombe Rural Sanitary District was administered from Wycombe Union Workhouse, which had been built in 1843 in open countryside in the parish of Saunderton, nearly five miles north-west of High Wycombe.
