Wyatt Mills
Gregory Wyatt Mills (born January 25, 1995) is an American professional baseball relief pitcher for the Boston Red Sox of Major League Baseball (MLB). He made his MLB debut in 2021 for the Seattle Mariners and has also played in MLB for the Kansas City Royals. Amateur career Mills attended Gonzaga Preparatory School in Spokane, Washington. Undrafted out of high school, he enrolled at Gonzaga University where he played college baseball for the Bulldogs. In 2014, as a freshman at Gonzaga, Mills compiled a 3.65 earned run average (ERA) in innings pitched, and as a sophomore in 2015, he went 1–0 with a 2.79 ERA in 19 innings. Mills broke out as a junior in 2016, going 3–2 with a 2.65 ERA and seven saves in 37 innings pitched in relief. In baseball, a save (abbreviated SV or S) is credited to a pitcher who finishes a game for the winning team under certain prescribed circumstances. Most commonly a pitcher earns a save by entering in the ninth inning of a game in which his team is winning by three or fewer runs and finishing the game by pitching one inning without losing the lead. The number of saves or percentage of save opportunities successfully converted are oft-cited statistics of relief pitchers, particularly those in the closer role. The save statistic was created by journalist Jerome Holtzman in 1959 to "measure the effectiveness of relief pitchers" and was adopted as an official Major League Baseball (MLB) statistic in 1969. The Arizona Fall League (AFL) is an off-season sports league owned and operated by Major League Baseball (MLB) which operates during the autumn in Arizona, United States, at six different baseball complexes. Arizona Fall League rosters are filled by many of the top prospects in Minor League Baseball (MiLB) who are assigned by their parent clubs. Structure The six teams of the AFL are organized in two three-team divisions. Peoria Javelinas
The Peoria Javelinas are a baseball team that plays in the West Division of the Arizona Fall League. The Javelinas play their home games in the Peoria Sports Complex in Peoria, Arizona. The ballpark is also the spring training facility for the San Diego Padres and the Seattle Mariners. Arkansas Travelers
The Arkansas Travelers, also known informally as The Travs, are a Minor League Baseball team based in North Little Rock, Arkansas. Modesto Nuts
The Modesto Nuts are a Minor League Baseball team of the California League and the Single-A affiliate of the Seattle Mariners. They are located in Modesto, California, and are named for the several types of nuts grown in the region. They play their home games at John Thurman Field, which opened in 1955. The 2017 Major League Baseball (MLB) First-Year Player Draft began on June 12, 2017. The draft assigned amateur baseball players to MLB teams.
