Roy Riegels
Roy Riegels (April 4, 1908 – March 26, 1993) was an American college football center who played for the California Golden Bears from 1927 to 1929. Riegels was nicknamed "Wrong Way" due to his infamous wrong-way run in the 1929 Rose Bowl, which is often cited as the worst blunder in the history of college football. That one play overshadowed Riegels' football talents; he earned first-team All-America honors and served as team captain for the Golden Bears in 1929. Riegels' notability has been shared by motivational speakers who use his life as an example of overcoming setbacks. Background The 1920s saw the first golden age of Cal football. The Golden Bears went 50 straight games without a defeat, from 1920 to 1925, with a record of 46 wins and 4 ties. As of 2010, this is the 3rd longest unbeaten (not to be confused with winning) streak in NCAA history. The 1920–1924 squads were so dominant that they were nicknamed "The Wonder Teams," and were coached by Andy Smith. O ...

Wrong-way Driving
Wrong-way driving (WWD), also known as contraflow driving, is the act of driving a motor vehicle against the traffic directionality, direction of traffic. It can occur on either One-way traffic, one- or Two-way street, two-way roads, as well as in parking lots and parking garages, and may be due to driver inattention or impairment, or because of insufficient or confusing Road surface marking, road markings or Street sign, signage, or a driver from a right-hand traffic country being unaccustomed to driving in a left-hand traffic country and vice versa. People intentionally drive in the wrong direction because they missed an exit, for thrill-seeking, or as a shortcut. Wrong-way driving is particularly dangerous on a divided highway, especially a freeway; the higher speeds typical of such roads mean that wrong-way driving invariably leads to a head-on collision. It is also evidenced by a number of videos that have been posted on the internet showing the exact moment of wrong-way d ...

Douglas Corrigan
Douglas Corrigan (born Clyde Groce Corrigan; January 22, 1907 – December 9, 1995) was an American aviator, nicknamed "Wrong Way" in 1938. After a transcontinental flight in July from Long Beach, California, to New York City, he then flew from Floyd Bennett Field in Brooklyn to Ireland, although his flight plan was filed to return to Long Beach. Corrigan claimed his unauthorized transatlantic flight was due to a navigational error, caused by heavy cloud cover that obscured landmarks and by misreading his compass in low-light conditions. However, he was a skilled aircraft mechanic (he had helped construct Charles Lindbergh's '' Spirit of St. Louis'') and had made several modifications to his own plane, preparing it for his transatlantic flight. He had been denied permission to make a nonstop flight from New York to Ireland, and his "navigational error" was seen as deliberate. Nevertheless, he never publicly admitted to having flown to Ireland intentionally. Early life Clyde ...
