"Wrong" is the first single released from English electronic music group Depeche Mode's twelfth studio album, ''Sounds of the Universe'', and their 46th UK single overall. It was released to radio in February 2009 and became available for purchase online on 24 February 2009. The single was physically released on 6 April 2009. The 12-inch version of the single was released on 11 May 2009. B-side "Oh Well" (which also appears on the ''Sounds of the Universe'' deluxe box set edition) is the first writing collaboration between Martin Gore (music) and Dave Gahan (lyrics). Commercially, the single reached number one in Scotland and entered the top 10 in nine countries worldwide, including France, Germany, Italy, and Sweden. Depeche Mode
Depeche Mode are an English electronic music band formed in Basildon, Essex, in 1980. The band currently consists of Dave Gahan (lead vocals and co-songwriting) and Martin Gore (keyboards, guitar, co-lead vocals and main songwriting). Depeche Mode, originally formed by the lineup of Gahan, Gore, Andy Fletcher (musician), Andy Fletcher and Vince Clarke, released their debut album ''Speak & Spell (album), Speak & Spell'' in 1981, bringing the band onto the British New wave music, new wave scene. ''Speak & Spell'' is the debut studio album by English electronic music band Depeche Mode. It was released on 5 October 1981, or possibly 29 October 1981, by Mute Records. It was the band's only album to feature Vince Clarke, and is much lighter in tone than their subsequent releases. The album peaked at number 10 on the UK Albums Chart, and was ranked number 991 in the 2000 book ''All Time Top 1000 Albums''. Background This was the only Depeche Mode album with Vince Clarke as a member. Clarke wrote most of the songs for the band, before departing to form Yazoo and later Erasure. The album is significantly lighter in tone and melody than their later work, a direction which can largely be attributed to Clarke's writing. After he left, Martin Gore took over songwriting duties, writing almost all of the band's material. Later albums written by him would explore darker subjects and melodies. "Dreaming of Me" is the debut single by British electronic band Depeche Mode. It was recorded in December 1980 at Blackwing Studios and originally released in February 1981 in the UK via Mute Records. It was not commercially released in the United States. Background Two versions of the song have been released, one which fades out, and one which does not (cold end). The cold end version is on the 1988 CD re-release of '' Speak & Spell'' in Europe, while the American ''Speak & Spell'' (and all singles compilations containing the song) has the fade out version. The 2006 re-release of ''Speak & Spell'' also has the cold end version and was released in all regions. The B-side, "Ice Machine", is similarly available in a fading version, and one with a cold end.
