Alan Keveral Cumming Newton Wrigley (born 19 July 1931) is an Australian writer and commentator on topics related to intelligence, defence and security. Prior to his writing career, he was an engineer at the Government Aircraft Factories, a senior public servant in the Department of Defence, and Director-General of Security (the head of the intelligence agency ASIO). Nicholas Wrigley
Nicholas Hugh Tremayne Wrigley (born 22 March 1955) is a British merchant banker and businessman, and the former chairman of Persimmon plc. Early life Wrigley was born on 22 March 1955, and educated at Harrow School. He is a chartered accountant. Career Wrigley was a non-executive director at the merchant bank N M Rothschild & Sons until November 2008, and had a thirty years career with the bank, rising to managing director of investment banking. From 2009 to June 2014, Wrigley was senior steward (effectively chairman) of the Jockey Club, succeeding Julian Richmond-Watson. After serving a five-year term, he was succeeded by Roger Weatherby. Jennifer and Hazel Wrigley are an international folk music duo playing fiddle (Jennifer) and guitar/piano (Hazel). They are twin sisters, born 16 August 1974, who grew up in Orkney, Scotland. They started to play when given instruments on their 8th birthday and soon joined the Orkney Strathspey and Reel Society in Kirkwall. In their early teens they were playing, often with their older sister Emma on accordion, at local concerts and ceilidhs around Orkney. There they were spotted by Orkney's only recording studio who launched them into ''Dancing Fingers'', their first album, recorded between the ages of 13 and 16 years (i.e. between 1987 and 1990) and released in 1991 when they were 16 years old. William Mills Wrigley Jr. (September 30, 1861 – January 26, 1932) was an American chewing gum industrialist. He was founder of the Wm. Wrigley Jr. Company in 1891. Biography William Mills Wrigley Jr. was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on September 30, 1861, the son of Mary Ann (née Ladley) and William Mills Wrigley Sr. His family were Quakers of English descent. In 1891, Wrigley moved from Philadelphia to Chicago to go into business for himself. He had $32 to his name ($931 in 2021 money) and with it he formed a business to sell Wrigley's Scouring Soap. Wilfred Wrigley (born 4 October 1949) is an English former professional footballer who played as a half back. Born in Clitheroe, he came through the Burnley youth team, and played in the side that won the FA Youth Cup in 1968. Sir Edward Anthony Wrigley (17 August 1931 – 24 February 2022) was a British historical demographer. Wrigley and Peter Laslett co-founded the Cambridge Group for the History of Population and Social Structure in 1964. Wrigley was born in Manchester on 17 August 1931. Wrigley's scholarly works focus on demographic history, and the long-term causes and effects of urbanization and industrialization. Robert Wrigley
Robert Wrigley (born 1951 in East St. Louis, Illinois) is an American poet and educator. Biography In 1971 Wrigley was inducted into the army, filing for discharge as a conscientious objector. He received his M.F.A. in Poetry from the University of Montana in 1976, where he studied under poets Richard Hugo, Madeline DeFrees, and John Haines. From 1987 to 1988 he served as writer-in-residence for the state of Idaho, and has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Idaho State Commission on the Arts, and the Guggenheim Foundation. His poems have been published in a number of journals, including ''Poetry'', ''The Atlantic'', '' Barrow Street'', and ''The New Yorker''.
