Wratislavia Cantans
The Andrzej Markowski International Festival Wratislavia Cantans is a music festival held every September in Wrocław and Lower Silesia, Poland, organized by the Witold Lutosławski National Forum of Music in Wrocław. The name ''Wratislavia Cantans'' is Latin for "Singing Wrocław", and the festival from the beginning has focused primarily on presenting the beauty of the human voice. Each year, concerts attract thousands of music lovers to the concert halls of the National Forum of Music, the historic interiors of Wrocław and a dozen or so cities of Lower Silesia. Paul McCreesh
Paul McCreesh (born 24 May 1960) is an English conductor. Paul McCreesh is the founder and artistic director of the Gabrieli Consort & Players. With them he has performed in major concert halls and festivals across the world. He has been the artistic director of the Wratislavia Cantans Festival in Wrocław, Poland and of the Brinkburn Festival in England. In 2005 Loughborough University conferred on him the honorary degree of Doctor of Letters. Musical education McCreesh began his career as a cellist and took his MusB from the University of Manchester in 1981. Repertoire and performance Paul McCreesh made his name in the music of the Renaissance and Baroque periods. The Gabrieli Consort was founded in 1982 and as of 2020 is still active. Andrzej Markowski
Andrzej Markowski (22 August 1924 – 30 October 1986) was a Polish composer and conductor. He was born in Lublin and died in Warsaw. He was the director of the Wrocław Philharmonic from 1965 to 1968 and founded the Wratislavia Cantans festival. He was awarded the Minister of Culture and Art Award, 2nd class in 1965. He received the "Orpheus" critics' award in 1968 and 1971. In 1969 he was awarded the annual Polish Composers' Union prize and in 1974 he received the State Award, 1st class. European Festivals Association
The European Festivals Association (EFA) is an umbrella group for various festivals in Europe and other countries. It supports artistic cooperation among festivals and offers programs for new festival and artistic managers. Lech Majewski (pronounced , ‘Ma-yev-ski’) (born 30 August 1953) is a Polish film and theatre director, writer, poet, and painter. Life and career Born in Katowice, Poland, Majewski studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In the 1970s, he then studied at the National Film School in Łódź, notably as a student of Wojciech Has, who taught Majewski directing. Rafał Olbiński
Rafał Olbinski (born February 21, 1943) is a Polish illustrator, painter, and educator, living in the United States. He is considered one of the major representatives of the Polish School of Posters. Biography Olbinski was born in Kielce, Poland. He graduated from the architecture program of the Warsaw University of Technology in 1969. Career Olbinski immigrated to the United States in 1981, where he soon established himself as a prominent painter, illustrator and designer.
