''Woxx'' is a Multilingualism, multilingual weekly newspaper published in Luxembourg. History and profile The newspaper was founded as ''GréngeSpoun'' by The Greens (Luxembourg), the Greens in 1988. In 2000, it was renamed as ''Woxx'' and given independence, although its editorials still support the Greens. The weekly is published weekly on Fridays in all three of Luxembourg's official languages: French language, French, German language, German, and Luxembourgish language, Luxembourgish. The headquarters of ''Woxx'' is in the city of Luxembourg (city), Luxembourg. It received €230,417 in annual Press subsidy in Luxembourg, state press subsidy in 2009. Press Subsidy In Luxembourg
A press subsidy ( lb, Staatlech Pressehëllef) is given by the government to newspapers in Luxembourg under the Law of 13 August 1998 on the Promotion of the Printed Press. They are awarded automatically to all general-interest newspapers appearing at least once a week that have full-time staffs of at least five journalists and of which advertisements constitute less than 50% of the newspaper. The total programme amounted to €7,754,499 in 2009. One-third of the total subsidy is spread evenly between qualifying newspapers, with the other two-thirds being proportional to the number of pages. The Greens (Luxembourg)
The Greens ( lb, Déi Gréng, french: Les Verts, german: Die Grünen) is a green political party in Luxembourg. Party history 1983–93 The Luxembourgish Greens were founded on 23 June 1983 as Green Alternative Party (GAP). Among its founding members were people engaged in the peace movement and the movement against a nuclear power plant in Luxembourg. Many came from left socialist groups that had split from the LSAP and from the former maoist movement who had already in 1979 been involved in the electoral Alternative List - Resist.
