''Mommie Dearest'' is a 1981 American biographical psychological drama film directed by Frank Perry. The film depicts Christina Crawford's adoptive mother, actress Joan Crawford, as an abusive and manipulative mother. Starring Faye Dunaway, Mara Hobel, and Diana Scarwid, the film was adapted for the screen by Robert Getchell, Tracy Hotchner, Frank Perry, and Frank Yablans from Christina's 1978 autobiography of the same name. The executive producers were Christina's husband, David Koontz, and Terry O'Neill, Dunaway's then-boyfriend and soon-to-be husband. The film was distributed by Paramount Pictures, the only one of the Big Eight film studios for which Crawford had never appeared in a feature film. Lawrence Gordon (born March 25, 1936) is an American producer and motion picture executive. He specializes in producing action-oriented films and other genres. Some of his most popular productions include ''Predator'' (1987), ''Die Hard'' (1988), ''Die Hard 2'' (1990), ''Predator 2'' (1990), ''Point Break'' (1991), ''Boogie Nights'' (1997), '' Lara Croft: Tomb Raider'' (2001), and ''Prey'' (2022). Life and career Gordon was raised in a Jewish family in Belzoni, Mississippi. He graduated from Tulane University in New Orleans. After moving to Los Angeles he began his producing career in 1964 working for Aaron Spelling and became writer and associate producer on the TV series '' Burke's Law''. ''Xanadu'' is a 1980 American musical fantasy film written by Richard Christian Danus and Marc Reid Rubel, and directed by Robert Greenwald. The film stars Olivia Newton-John, Michael Beck and Gene Kelly in his final film role. It features music by Newton-John, Electric Light Orchestra, Cliff Richard, and the Tubes. The title is a reference to the nightclub in the film, which takes its name from Xanadu, the summer capital of Kublai Khan's Yuan Dynasty in China. This city appears in ''Kubla Khan'' by Samuel Taylor Coleridge, an 1816 poem that is quoted in the film. ''Xanadu'' was released in the United States on August 8, 1980, by Universal Pictures. Stanley Donen
Stanley Donen ( ; April 13, 1924 – February 21, 2019) was an American film director and choreographer whose most celebrated works are '' On the Town,'' (1949) and ''Singin' in the Rain'' (1952), both of which he co-directed with Gene Kelly. His other films include ''Royal Wedding'' (1951), ''Seven Brides for Seven Brothers'' (1954), ''It's Always Fair Weather'' (1955), ''Funny Face'' (1957), '' Indiscreet'' (1958), and ''Charade'' (1963). Donen began his career in the chorus line on Broadway for director George Abbott, where he befriended Kelly. From 1943, he worked in Hollywood as a choreographer before collaborating with Kelly. After ''On the Town'', Donen worked as a contract director for MGM under producer Arthur Freed producing critically well-received box-office hits. Jerry Leider is an American producer of both feature films and television programs. He has also worked as a senior executive at studios, television networks and talent agencies. Leider began his career in film and television as a program executive at the CBS Television Network in New York. Before joining CBS-TV, Leider produced several plays in New York and London, among them Sir John Gielgud's one-man show '' The Ages of Man'' and '' The Visit'' starring Alfred Lunt and Lynn Fontanne.
