Worlds Collide (2023 Comic Book)
''Milestone Returns'' or ''Earth-M'' is an ongoing line of American comic books published by DC Comics that began in September 2020. The line features reimagined versions of the fictional characters and shared universe of Milestone Media by Denys Cowan, Michael Davis, Derek T. Dingle and Dwayne McDuffie. Publication history In 2018, DC Comics announced ''Earth-M'' as a reboot of several comic books of Milestone Media by Denys Cowan, Michael Davis, Derek T. Dingle and Dwayne McDuffie. In 2020, ''Earth-M'' was retitled as ''Milestone Returns'', with the initial issue being published in September. An extended version was published in February 2021. Origin Story
In entertainment, an origin story is an account or backstory revealing how a character or group of people become a protagonist or antagonist, and it adds to the overall interest and complexity of a narrative, often giving reasons for their intentions. In American comic books, it also refers to how characters gained their superpowers and/or the circumstances under which they became superheroes or supervillains. In order to keep their characters current, comic book companies, as well as cartoon companies, game companies, children's show companies, and toy companies, frequently rewrite the origins of their oldest characters. "Worlds Collide" is an intercompany crossover event presented in July 1994 in the Milestone Comics titles and the Superman-related titles published by DC Comics. A one-shot comic title of the same name was written by Dwayne McDuffie, Ivan Velez Jr. and Robert Washington. Publication history In the summer of 1994, DC Comics and Milestone Media published an intercompany crossover called ''Worlds Collide''. It featured a meeting between Metropolis-based superheroes from the DC Universe and Dakota-based superheroes from the Dakotaverse. Unlike many intercompany crossovers, it was intended to be part of the regular continuity and took place in the monthly issues of the involved series. Xombi
Xombi is a superhero published by DC Comics. He first appeared in ''Xombi'' #0 (January 1994) and was created by John Rozum and Denys Cowan. Fictional character biography Xombi was a Korean-American scientist named David Kim from West Orange, New Jersey. He developed a nanotechnological virus capable of extensive tissue regeneration. Before David Kim could test his invention, a villain named Dr. Sugarman broke into his lab and tried to steal the virus. In the fight, Kim was critically injured, and his assistant Kelly injected him with the virus in an attempt to save his life. Geoffrey Thorne (born January 20, 1970) is an American screenwriter, television producer, novelist and actor. Biography Thorne was born in Washington, D.C. The Blood Syndicate is a fictional multicultural vigilante gang of superhumans created by Milestone Media, Milestone Comics and published by DC Comics. The team first appeared in ''Blood Syndicate'' #1 (April 1993), and was created by Dwayne McDuffie, Ivan Velez Jr. and Denys Cowan. Publication history In Milestone Media, Milestone Comics' fictional city of Dakota, the Blood Syndicate is a loose affiliation of super-powered individuals brought together by circumstance; 35 issues of their eponymous comic book, written largely by Ivan Velez, Jr., were published between 1993 and 1996. Doug Braithwaite
Doug Braithwaite is a British comic book artist. Career Braithwaite started out working on British comics, like '' 2000 AD'' and '' A1'', but is best known for his Marvel Comics work on the ''Earth X'' sequels, ''Universe X'' and ''Paradise X'' (with Alex Ross and Jim Krueger), as well as for ''The Punisher Kills the Marvel Universe'' and '' Punisher: MAX'' #13–18, with Garth Ennis. Christopher Williams, who goes by ChrisCross, is a comic book illustrator, known mostly for his stints pencilling Milestone Comics' ''Blood Syndicate'' and ''Heroes'', Marvel Comics' '' Captain Marvel'' and '' Slingers'' and DC Comics' ''Firestorm''. Education and career Williams attended New York City's School of Visual Arts in the early 1990s. While doing so, he caught his big break doing work for the DC Comics imprint, Milestone Comics, which sought to publish a line of comics aimed at attracting a more multicultural audience. James Palmiotti (born August 14, 1961) is an American writer and inker of comic books, who also does writing for games, television and film. Early life Palmiotti attended the High School of Art and Design in New York City. Career Palmiotti started at Marvel Comics in 1991.
