World University Championship
The FISU World University Championships are part of the sporting events of the International University Sports Federation. Launched the FISU World University Championships in 1963, with Lund, Sweden hosting the Handball event. Championships In the year of the Universiade, the Championships shall be the same as the World Games tournament. The programme of the World University Championships is subject to change and currently includes 37 sports. In order to be as complete as possible, it includes: * Individual/ team sports * Indoor/ outdoor sports * Combat sports * Mind sports * Summer/ Winter sports. World University Netball Championships
The World University Championships are organized by the Fédération Internationale du Sport Universitaire (FISU). In July, 2012, the first World University Netball Championship was held in Cape Town, South Africa. The South African Federation of University Sports organised the event. It is a women's indoor tournament with a maximum of 12 teams competing. 12 competitors and 5 officials are allowed per team. The venue of the first championship was the Good Hope Sports Centre in Cape Town, July 2–7, 2012. The winners were England, who beat South Africa in the finals. The winners of the inaugural tournament were England, edging out South Africa in the grand final in a close game that went into overtime. Jamaica came 3rd, beating Ireland 41-30 for the bronze medal. World University Handball Championships
The World University Handball Championship is the World University Championship (WUC) in handball competition contested by the men's and women's university's national teams of the member federations/associations of International University Sports Federation (FISU). The men's tournament which was established in 1963 is the oldest World University Championship in 1994 there was established a women's tournament. Since 2006 both the men's and women's tournaments are held at the same place every two years. World University Futsal Championships
Futsal is a football-based game played on a hard court smaller than a football pitch, and mainly indoors. It has similarities to five-a-side football and indoor football. Futsal is played between two teams of five players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper. Unlimited substitutions are permitted. Unlike some other forms of indoor soccer, it is played on a hard court surface marked by lines; walls or boards are not used. It is played with a smaller, harder, lower-bounce ball than football. The surface, ball and rules favour ball control and passing in small spaces. The game emphasizes control, improvisation, creativity and technique. Naming ''Futsal'' comes from the Portuguese ''futebol de salão'' and from the Spanish ''fútbol sala'' or ''fútbol de salón'' (all translatable as "indoor football"). World University Baseball Championships
The World University Baseball Championship is an under-23 international college baseball competition sponsored by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and was first held in 2002 in Italy. Until 2013, it was sanctioned by the then-International Baseball Federation (IBAF) and was one of several tournaments considered by the IBAF to be a minor world championship, and as such the results of the tournaments affected the IBAF World Rankings. For its men's world rankings, the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC) -- successor to the IBAF—now uses the results of WBSC's biennial 23U Baseball World Cup (instead of the World University Championship). The World University American Football Championship is an international college American football competition sponsored by the International University Sports Federation (FISU) and sanctioned by the International Federation of American Football (IFAF). The 1st World University American Football Championship was held from May 1 to May 11, 2014 in Uppsala, Sweden. The 2020 and 2022 championships were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. From 2022, the Championship will change formats, with university teams participating rather than National.
