World Squash Doubles Championships
The World Squash Doubles Championship has been held in North America since 1981 when it was sanctioned by the International Squash Racquets Federation. It has been held bi-annually since 1994 where it has alternated with the World Softball Doubles. Under the WSF rules, double pairs must be made up of two players from the same country. The WSF event has been held since 1997, being Australia 2019 last edition. Format In its most recent format, teams enter through their national governing body and the event is sanctioned by the WSF. The championships are played on courts measuring 32 feet (9.75 metres) by 25 feet – a court size approved by the World Squash Federation in 1992 for the international doubles game. This court size is the same depth as courts for the singles game, but appears to be slightly wider (singles courts are 21 feet wide). Chris Walker (born 11 June 1967 in Chelmsford) is a male squash coach and former professional squash player from England. Squash career Walker started playing squash when he was eight years old. At 18 years old he took a job as a computer programmer but decided to devote his time to Squash, selling his car to finance playing on the World Squash tour. At that time it was called the ISPA (International Squash Players Association) since renamed, and currently, the PSA (Professional Squash Association) tour. Damien Mudge (born 12 May 1976) is an Australian professional male doubles squash (sport), squash player, from Adelaide, South Australia, currently residing with his wife in Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. He holds the all-time record of 157 professional doubles tour titles. Until his recent retirement in August 2019, Mudge had been ranked as the number one player on the professional doubles tour for more than 15 consecutive years. Mark Talbott is an American squash coach and former professional squash player. He is known as one of the all-time great players of hardball squash. Talbott was inducted into the United States Squash Hall of Fame in 2000. He was the World Professional Squash Association Player of the Year eight times and an Olympic Athlete of the Year in 1991, `92, and `95.
