World Sports Competition
''World Sports Competition'' is a sports game, sports video game developed by Make Software and published by Hudson Soft for the TurboGrafx-16, PC-Engine in 1992 and released on the TurboGrafx-16 in 1993. It has also been released on the PlayStation Network in Japan and North America and on the Virtual Console in Europe and North America. The game has a Summer Olympic Games, Summer Olympics theme and features several events, including archery, rowing (sport), rowing, Shooting sports, shooting, swimming (sport), swimming, and track and field. The game is known in Japan as ''Power Sports'' which was part of the ''Power Sports Series'', a series of sports games released between 1988 and 1998. Hudson Soft
was a Japanese video game company that released numerous games for video game consoles, home computers and mobile phones, mainly from the 1980s to the 2000s. It was headquartered in the Midtown Tower in Tokyo Midtown, Akasaka, Minato, Tokyo, Japan, with an additional office in the Hudson Building in Sapporo. Hudson Soft was founded on May 18, 1973. Initially, it dealt with personal computer products, but later expanded to the development and publishing of video games, mobile content, video game peripherals and music recording. Primarily a video game publisher, it internally developed many of the video games it released while outsourcing others to external companies. Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. The TurboGrafx-16, known as the outside North America, is a home video game console designed by Hudson Soft and sold by NEC Home Electronics. It was the first console marketed in the fourth generation, commonly known as the 16-bit era, though the console has an 8-bit central processing unit (CPU) coupled with a 16-bit graphics processor. It was released in Japan in 1987 and in North America in 1989.
