World Soundtrack Award – Public Choice
The Public Choice Award for the Best Score of the Year is an award by the World Soundtrack Academy. Each year, the general public votes for the nominees and the award is presented at the annual World Soundtrack Awards. The category has existed since 2001, but there was not a winner nor a vote for 2003's ceremony. In 2016, the International Film Music Critics Association partnered with WSA in choosing the shortlist of nominees, selecting 30 scores representing the most outstanding works. The five nominees receiving the most votes became the final candidates for the award, with the winner announced at the awards gala. World Soundtrack Academy
The World Soundtrack Awards, launched in 2001 by the Film Fest Gent, is aimed at organizing and overseeing the educational, cultural and professional aspects of the art of film music, including the preservation of the history of the soundtrack and its worldwide promotion. The event takes place yearly in Ghent, Belgium with the ceremony usually at the Capitole Concert Hall. Usually, the Brussels Philharmonic conducted by Dirk Brossé performs the awarded music at the ceremony. John Powell (born 18 September 1963) is an English composer best known for his film scores. He has been based in Los Angeles since 1997 and has composed the scores to over 70 feature films. Michel Bisceglia is a Belgian musician. Born Michelino Bisceglia on January 4, 1970, he descends from a family of Italian origin. Although he began playing the keyboard at the age of 6, his formal training on classical piano only started when he was already 12 years old. A few years later he switched to modern piano, and by his second year in high school he knew he wanted to dedicate his life to music.
