World In My Corner
''World in My Corner'' is a 1956 American film noir drama sport film directed by Jesse Hibbs and starring Audie Murphy and Barbara Rush. It was one of the few non-Westerns Murphy made in his career. Plot Tommy Shea (Audie Murphy), a boxer from Jersey City, is sponsored by millionaire Robert Mallinson (Jeff Morrow). He falls for Mallinson's daughter, Dorothy (Barbara Rush) who wants to break free from what she feels is her father's controlling ways and pursue her writing career. In order to get hold of the kind of money it takes to start a life with Dorothy, Tommy decides to work for crooked fight promoter Harry Cram. This causes conflict with his honest manager, Dave Bernstein. As his big fight approaches, Tommy is torn about what to do. Jesse Hibbs
Jesse John Hibbs (January 11, 1906 – February 4, 1985) was an American film and television director and American football player. He played college football at the University of Southern California (USC), where he was an All-American tackle for the Trojans in 1927 and 1928. Football career Born in Normal, Illinois, Hibbs graduated from the select Lake Forest Academy and subsequently enrolled at the University of Southern California (USC), where he was the captain of USC's first national championship team, in 1928. Among his 1926 teammates was Marion Morrison, later known as John Wayne. Hibbs played professionally in the National Football League (NFL) with the Chicago Bears in 1931. Art Aragon
Arthur Benjamin Aragon (November 13, 1927 – March 25, 2008 ) was an American boxer in the lightweight class from New Mexico. Early and later life Aragon was a native of Belen, New Mexico, but grew up in East Los Angeles. His family was of Mexican descent. He was married four times and engaged a fifth time. He had six acknowledged children. After retiring from boxing, Aragon went into the bail bonds business and pursued acting roles. ''To Hell and Back'' is a Technicolor and CinemaScope war film released in 1955. It was directed by Jesse Hibbs and stars Audie Murphy as himself. It is based on the 1949 autobiography of the same name and is an account of Murphy's World War II experiences as a soldier in the U.S. Army. The book was ghostwritten by his friend, David "Spec" McClure, who served in the U.S. Army's Signal Corps during World War II. Jimmy Lennon Sr. (April 13, 1913 – April 20, 1992) was a ring announcer for boxing and professional wrestling matches. Early life Lennon sang as a young boy in church and later formed a singing group, The Lennon Brothers, with his brothers in Venice, California. He also served the World War II effort by becoming a commissioned civil instructor as a butcher and cook.
