World Hindi Secretariat
World Hindi Secretariat (WHS), ( hi, विश्व हिन्दी सचिवालय), is an international organisation of nations and regions where Hindi is the first or customary language with significant proportion of population consisting of Hindi speakers and/or with notable affiliation with North Indian culture. WHS is focused on promoting Hindi as an international language and furthering the cause of recognition of Hindi as an official language of the United Nations. India has been trying to get 129 votes at the United Nations to make Hindi an official language of the UN. WHS is head quartered at Vacoas-Phoenix city in Plaines Wilhems District of Mauritius. Sanskritisation (or Sanskritization) is a term in sociology which refers to the process by which castes or tribes placed lower in the caste hierarchy seek 'upward' mobility by emulating the rituals and practices of the dominant castes or upper castes. Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (, English: Non-Resident Indian Day) is a celebratory day observed (starting in 2003) on 9 January by the Republic of India to mark the contribution of the overseas Indian community towards the development of India. The day commemorates the return of Mahatma Gandhi from South Africa to Mumbai on 9 January 1915. Greater India, or the Indian cultural sphere, is an area composed of many countries and regions in South and Southeast Asia that were historically influenced by Indian culture, which itself formed from the various distinct indigenous cultures of these regions. The World Hindi Conference, in Hindi: Vishva Hindi Sammelan ( hi, विश्व हिंदी सम्मेलन), is a world conference on Hindi language. It consists of several Hindi scholars, writers and laureates from different parts of the world who contribute to the language. World Hindi Day is celebrated each year on 10 January with events organized by the National Council of Indian Culture, Hindi Nidhi Foundation, Indian High Commission, Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Cultural Co-operation, and the Sanatan Dharma Maha Sabha. Vinod Bala Arun
Vinod Bala (Vinoo) Arun is a Hindi, Sanskrit and Indian Philosophy scholar. She was awarded a PhD degree from the University of Mauritius, sponsored by the Tertiary Education Commission on the topic, "A comparative study of the ethical values in Ramayana and Ramacharitmanasa and their impact on the Hindu Society of Mauritius". Arun was the first Sanskrit education officer and one of the first to teach Hindi literature in Mauritius. Subsequently, she was a senior lecturer in Indian philosophy at the University of Mauritius from 2002 to 2010.
