World Council Of Arameans
World Council of Arameans (Syriacs), previously known as the ''Syriac Universal Alliance'' ( syr, ܚܘܝܕܐ ܣܘܪܝܝܐ ܬܒܝܠܝܐ, Ḥuyōdō Suryōyō Tbelōyō), is an international non-government umbrella organization, whose membership consists of several national associations, representing Arameans (also known as ''Syriac'') from various countries around the world. Position of the SUA/WCA president is regarded as representative within Aramean/Syriac community. Since 2009, the organization is presided by Johny Messo. Activities The organization was founded in on 16 July 1983, in New Jersey, as the ''Syriac Universal Alliance'' (SUA), on the initiative of the ''American Aramaic Association'' and the ''Swedish Syriac Federation''. Syrian Constitutional Committee
The Syrian Constitutional Committee is a United Nations-facilitated constituent assembly process that seeks to reconcile the Syrian Government headed by President Bashar al-Assad and the Syrian opposition, in the context of the Syrian peace process, by amending the current or adopting a new Constitution of Syria. The UN hopes that this would lead to negotiations which would subsequently lead to a peaceful end of the Syrian Civil War, which had been raging for more than eight years by the time of the committee's formation. Geir Otto Pedersen (born 28 September 1955) is a Norwegian diplomat, who is currently the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria. Career Born in Oslo, Pedersen is a cand.philol. by education and started working for the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1985. In 1993, Pedersen was a member of the Norwegian team to the Oslo negotiations, which led to the signing of the Declaration of Principles and mutual recognition between the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO) and Israel. In the following years, from 1995 to 1998, Pedersen held several positions at the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
