World's Fastest Drummer
World's Fastest Drummer/Extreme Sport Drumming is a competition for determining the world's fastest drummer. A drummer's speed is calculated and recorded by a digital counting device called the Drumometer. The Drumometer, a patented electronic technology protected by U.S. Patent #6,545,207 was invented by Boo McAfee and Craig A. Kestner, aka Craig Alan, in 1999 for accurately counting drum strokes. The Drumometer is accredited by Guinness World Records as the official device used to verify the World's Fastest Drummer. Purpose The primary goal of most WFD competitions is to determine who can play the most single strokes in sixty seconds. He is the drummer for symphonic metal band Everdawn (formerly known as Midnight Eternal), hard rock band Spider Rockets, and several other projects. Dan Prestup is recognized as one of the fastest drummers in the world. Michael "Mike Machine" Mallais (born in Miramichi, New Brunswick on November 23, 1979) is a Canadian drummer. He started playing improvised drums at the age of two and subsequently a real kit at the age of five after being introduced to heavy metal bands. Smith was introduced to fine arts at an early age by his father, a noted trombonist, best known for his work with New Orleans traditional jazz artist Murphy Campo. Joseph Albert Morello (July 17, 1928 – March 12, 2011) was an American jazz drummer best known for serving as the drummer for pianist Dave Brubeck, as part of the Dave Brubeck Quartet, from 1957 to 1972, including during the quartet's "classic lineup" from 1958 to 1968, which also included alto saxophonist Paul Desmond and bassist Eugene Wright. Morello's facility for playing unusual time signatures and rhythms enabled that group to record a series of albums that explored unusual time signatures. Michael Anthony Mangini (born April 18, 1963) is an American musician and current drummer of the progressive metal band Dream Theater. He has also played for bands and artists such as Annihilator, Extreme, James LaBrie, and Steve Vai. Before joining Dream Theater, Mangini was a faculty member at Berklee College of Music.
