Workers League (Ireland)
The Workers League was a Trotskyist political party in Ireland. The group's origins lay in the League for a Workers Republic, an associate of the International Committee of the Fourth International (ICFI). As that organisation began to split between the supporters of the Socialist Labour League (SLL) in Britain and those of the Internationalist Communist Organisation (OCI) in France. The majority of the League for a Workers Republic sided with the OCI, but a minority broke away in 1970 to form the League for a Workers Vanguard. When the ICFI split in 1972, the League for a Workers Vanguard changed its name to the "Workers League" and became an official affiliate of an ICFI dominated by Gerry Healy's Socialist Labour League. Toilers League
The Toilers League ( ar, رابطة الشغيلة, translit=Rabitat al-Shaghila), also designated the Workers League or Ligue des Travailleurs (LT) in French, is a Lebanese left-wing political party founded in Lebanon at the late 1960s and currently led by former Chouf MP Zaher el-Khatib. Origins The Toilers League originated from a previous socialist students association formed at the American University of Beirut (AUB) in 1968 by the then student activist and Progressive Socialist Party (PSP) militant Zaher el-Khatib. Workers League (UK)
The Workers League was a small Trotskyist group in Britain. It began as the ''IS Opposition'', formed in 1975 within the International Socialists (now the Socialist Workers Party), and containing many prominent IS members, including Roger Protz and Jim Higgins. They had several major disagreements with the IS leadership, including what they perceived as an increasingly ultra left stance, refusing to work with other socialist groups, and a reduction in internal democracy. In December 1975 after campaigning for a Special Conference of IS, the faction's leaders were expelled. Following this a considerable number of IS members left the group including the influential engineering fraction in Birmingham. The Socialist Equality Party (SEP) is a Trotskyist political party in the United States, one of several Socialist Equality parties around the world affiliated with the International Committee of the Fourth International (ICFI). The ICFI publishes daily news articles, perspectives and commentaries on the World Socialist Web Site and maintains Mehring Books as publishing house. The SEP was formed in 1995 by the Workers League, the US supporters of the ICFI. The Workers League had been founded in 1966 by the American Committee for the Fourth International (ACFI), headed by Tim Wohlforth, which emerged out of a split with the Socialist Workers Party, in opposition to the latter's support for Castroism.
