Workbook Project
The Workbook Project (WBP) is an online community and network with an emphasis on film, design, video games, and transmedia storytelling. It was founded by writer-director Lance Weiler in 2006. It provides resources, advice, and documentation from the community with a focus on the process of funding, creating, distributing and sustaining creative projects. Its goal is to help extend the story of any project, while giving value to the project and its audience. Within the WBP are five individual branches that all feed back into the larger Workbook Project community. Those branches include: WBPLabs, New Breed, Culture Hacker, RADAR, DIY DAYS. WBP host a yearly Discovery and Distribution Award which is designed to fund and provide distribution for a film, musician or designers. Transmedia Storytelling
Transmedia storytelling (also known as transmedia narrative or multiplatform storytelling) is the technique of telling a single story or story experience across multiple platforms and formats using current digital technologies. From a production standpoint, transmedia storytelling involves creating content that engages an audience using various techniques to permeate their daily lives. In order to achieve this engagement, a transmedia production will develop stories across multiple forms of media in order to deliver unique pieces of content in each channel. Lance Weiler
Lance Weiler is an American filmmaker and writer from Pennsylvania. He first was known for ''The Last Broadcast (film), The Last Broadcast'' (1997), a Found footage (film technique), found footage horror film which he co-wrote, co-produced, co-directed, and co-starred in with Stefan Avalos. ''The Last Broadcast'' made cinematic history on October 23, 1998 as the first all-digital release of motion picture to be store and forward, stored and forwarded via geosynchronous satellite. Initially working as an assistant cameraman and camera operator on large commercial shoots, in Pennsylvania and later New York City, Weiler is known for increasing work in experimental combinations of film, artificial intelligence, AI, gaming, and related media. Sundance Film Festival
