Worcester Concert Brass
A Brief History The band was formed in March 1982 as the Nunnery Wood Youth Band by a group of local parents and staff from Nunnery Wood High School. Its aim was to give young people who had played in bands while at school an opportunity to continue playing in a brass band after they had left. Its members were originally drawn from staff, pupils and ex-pupils of a number of schools around the city and its Musical Director was Mr Tony White (Head of Music at Nunnery Wood High School). A change in Musical Director in September 1992 to Mr Roy Turner (Brass Teacher - Worcester Royal Grammar School) and a reduction in the number of pupils being taught brass instruments in schools forced the band to look for more mature members and so a change of name was felt more appropriate and the band became Worcester Concert Brass in September 1993. Nunnery Wood High School
Nunnery Wood High School is a coeducational secondary school which is located in Worcester, Worcestershire, England. The school campus is located on the edge of Worcester, surrounded by some of gardens and playing fields, which it shares with the adjacent Worcester Sixth Form College. The school has facilities for Science, English, Music, Art & Design, Languages and ICT. The school's sports centre has an outdoor pitch and an athletics track around a grass football pitch. Worcester Royal Grammar School
The Royal Grammar School Worcester (also known as RGS Worcester or RGSW) is an eleven-eighteen mixed, independent day school and sixth form in Worcester, Worcestershire, England. Founded before 1291, it is one of the oldest British independent day schools. In September 2007, the school merged with the neighbouring Alice Ottley School and was briefly known as RGS Worcester and the Alice Ottley School (RGSAO) before reverting to their original name. The school began accepting girls in 2003, prior to the merger. The school currently consists of the main high school and three preparatory campuses known as RGS Springfield (previously of Alice Ottley School) RGS The Grange (opened 1996). and RGS Dodderhill. The National Lottery is the state-franchising, franchised national lottery established in 1994 in the United Kingdom. It is regulated by the Gambling Commission, and is currently operated by Camelot Group, to which the licence was granted in 1994, 2001 and again in 2007, but will be operated by Allwyn Entertainment Ltd from 2024. Prizes are paid as a lump sum (with the exception of the Set For Life which is paid over a set period) and are tax-free.
