Woody Williams (pitcher, Born 1918)
Woodrow Wilson Williams (August 23, 1918 – May 22, 1990) was an American Negro league pitcher in the 1940s. A native of Nolensville, Tennessee, Williams played for the Washington Elite Giants in 1937 and played with the team after it moved to Baltimore in 1938 and 1940. In 21 recorded appearances on the mound, he posted a 5–3 record with a 5.04 ERA over 69.2 innings. Nolensville, Tennessee
Nolensville is a town in Williamson County, Tennessee. Its population was 13,829 at the 2020 census. It was established in 1797 by William Nolen, a veteran of the American Revolutionary War. The Baltimore Elite Giants were a professional baseball team that played in the Negro league baseball, Negro leagues from to . The team was established by Tom Wilson (Negro baseball), Thomas T. Wilson, in Nashville, Tennessee as the semi-pro Nashville Standard Giants on March 26, 1920. The team was renamed the Elite Giants in , and moved to Baltimore, Maryland in , where the team remained for the duration of their existence.
