Woodstock Park (Portland, Oregon)
Woodstock Park is a public park located in the Woodstock neighborhood of southeast Portland, Oregon, in the United States. Description and history Operated by Portland Parks & Recreation, the park was acquired in 1921 and measures . SE 47th Avenue and SE 50th Avenue form the west and east boundaries; Woodstock Park is bounded by SE Steele Street to the north and by SE Harold Street and Woodstock School to the south. Amenities include a dog off-leash area, horseshoe pit, paved paths, picnic tables, a playground, public art, restroom facilities, soccer and softball fields and tennis courts. The park is open between 5 a.m. and midnight daily. The park has hosted high school softball games, movies, Woodstock School reunions, and an annual event known as "Unimproved Road". In 2012, Portland Parks & Recreation budget cuts threatened to close Woodstock Park's restroom facility and reduce daily care. Woodstock School (Portland, Oregon)
Woodstock School, also known as Woodstock Elementary School, is an elementary school within Portland Public Schools, located in the Woodstock neighborhood of southeast Portland, Oregon, United States. Established in 1891, the school was housed in a four-room building until it joined School District No. 1 in 1909. The newly constructed two-story, eight-room school opened in 1911 at its current location. The Woodstock School underwent expansions in 1925 and 1955, but a fire in 1980 destroyed the building's two-story center. Protests by Woodstock residents and the Woodstock Parent Teachers Association ended the school district's plans to close the school due to fire damage and low student enrollment throughout the city. The school remained open and underwent repairs, but its second story was lost. The school marks the oldest standing elementary school in Portland.
