Woodmont Station
Woodmont station is a former railroad station in Huntingdon Valley, Pennsylvania. It was located on Byberry Road and Reading Way in Lower Moreland Township, Pennsylvania. It formerly served the Reading Railroad's Newtown Line The Fox Chase Line SEPTA Regional Rail service connecting Center City, Philadelphia, Center City Philadelphia with Fox Chase, Philadelphia, Fox Chase. It uses the Fox Chase Branch, which branches off from the SEPTA Main Line at Newtown Junction n .... History Woodmont station was an early closure on the Newtown line, with trains bypassing the stop by the late 1960s. All traces of the former Woodmont station were removed by the 1970s. The Newtown line itself became a part of SEPTA's Fox Chase Rapid Transit Line, which ceased operation on January 14, 1983, due to failing diesel train equipment. Huntingdon Valley is a village, as well as a suburban mailing address located in Lower Moreland Township, Upper Moreland Township and Abington Township all in Montgomery County, and in small sections of Upper Southampton Township and Lower Southampton Township in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States, bordering the Fox Chase section of Philadelphia County. Lower Moreland Township is a township in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 12,982 at the 2010 census. The Budd Rail Diesel Car, RDC, Budd car or Buddliner is a self-propelled diesel multiple unit (DMU) railcar. Between 1949 and 1962, 398 RDCs were built by the Budd Company of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States. The cars were primarily adopted for passenger service in rural areas with low traffic density or in short-haul commuter service, and were less expensive to operate in this context than a traditional diesel locomotive-drawn train with coaches.
