Woodley, Cheshire
Woodley is a suburb in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, Greater Manchester, England. It is situated on the east side of the Peak Forest Canal, next to Bredbury, Romiley and the boundary with Tameside, at Gee Cross. Historically part of Cheshire, the name means "a clearing in the wood" because the area contains a lot of woodland. Religion Transport Railway Woodley railway station is on the Hope Valley line; on a loop which stretches from Ashburys to Romiley, via Guide Bridge but by-passing Bredbury. Services run half-hourly between Manchester Piccadilly and Rose Hill Marple on Mondays to Saturdays; there is no service on Sundays. Metropolitan Borough Of Stockport
The Metropolitan Borough of Stockport is a metropolitan borough of Greater Manchester in North West England, south-east of central Manchester. As well as the towns of Stockport, Bredbury and Marple, it includes the outlying areas of Hazel Grove, Bramhall, Cheadle, Cheadle Hulme, Gatley, Reddish, Woodley and Romiley. In 2021, it had a population of 294,800. The borough is third-most populous of Greater Manchester. Rose Hill Marple Railway Station
Rose Hill Marple railway station is in Marple in the Metropolitan Borough of Stockport, England. The station, which opened in 1869, is the last surviving stop on the former Macclesfield, Bollington and Marple Railway (''MB&MR''). It is connected via a short branch to the Hope Valley Line. The original line to Macclesfield closed in January 1970, leaving Rose Hill Marple as the terminus of the route. Daily services run to Manchester Piccadilly, via the Hyde loop; there is no service on Sundays. Stockport is a town and borough in Greater Manchester, England, south-east of Manchester, south-west of Ashton-under-Lyne and north of Macclesfield. The River Goyt and Tame merge to create the River Mersey here. Most of the town is within the boundaries of the historic county of Cheshire, with the area north of the Mersey in the historic county of Lancashire. Stockport in the 16th century was a small town entirely on the south bank of the Mersey, known for the cultivation of hemp and manufacture of rope.
