Woodinville
Woodinville is a city in King County, Washington, United States. It is a part of the Seattle metropolitan area. There is also a much larger population with Woodinville mailing addresses in adjacent unincorporated areas of King ( Cottage Lake) and Snohomish ( Maltby) counties. Woodinville has waterfront parks on the Sammamish River, sweeping winery and brewery grounds, and densely wooded areas. History Prior to European-American settlement, the Woodinville area was inhabited by the native Sammamish people. Indigenous peoples had occupied the area for thousands of years. In 1871, Ira Woodin and his wife Susan moved from Seattle and traveled up the Sammamish River where they built a cabin. They planned to log timber and farm cattle. Bothell
Bothell () is a city in King and Snohomish counties in the U.S. state of Washington. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area, situated near the northeast end of Lake Washington. As of the 2020 census, it had a population of 48,161 residents. Sammamish River
The Sammamish River (also known as Sammamish Slough) flows through north King County, Washington for about , draining Lake Sammamish into Lake Washington. Along its course, the Sammamish River flows through Redmond, Woodinville, Bothell, and Kenmore. The river is named after the native people who once lived along its entire length. Course The Sammamish River begins as an outlet on the north shore of Lake Sammamish, which in turn is fed by several creeks that make up the headwaters of the Sammamish River basin. Maltby, Washington
Maltby is a census-designated place (CDP) in Snohomish County, Washington. The population was 10,830 at the 2010 census. History Maltby was first settled in 1887, and named for real estate dealer Robert Maltby. Geography Maltby is located north of Woodinville and south of Snohomish, at the intersection of State Route 522 and State Route 524. It uses Snohomish and Woodinville addresses and is served by city services from Monroe. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 16.8 square miles (43.6 km2), of which, 16.8 square miles (43.4 km2) of it is land and 0.1 square miles (0.2 km2) of it (0.36%) is water. Seattle Pop Festival
The Seattle Pop Festival was a music festival held at the Gold Creek Park, 16020 148th Ave NE, Woodinville, Washington from July 25 to July 27, 1969. The event was organized by Boyd Grafmyre. Overview The plan for Seattle Pop was to have 25 acts play over the course of three days. Promoter Boyd Grafmyre went to great lengths to make sure performers arrived. He chartered a helicopter to fly The Doors from Seattle’s airport, and rented a Cadillac convertible for Chuck Berry. Tickets for the event cost $6 for a day or $15 for all three days. An estimated 50,000-70,000 people attended the festival. Seattle Pop was one of the festivals to forgo hiring police or off-duty officers as security; instead, Grafmyre hired The Black Panthers to keep watch. Because attendance was larger than expected, extra food and water needed to be brought into the venue. The King County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) is a local police agency in King County, Washington, United States. It is the primary law enforcement agency for all unincorporated areas of King County, as well as 12 cities and two transit agencies which contract their police services to the KCSO. Sammamish People
The Sammamish (; indigenously, ) people are a Coast Salish Native American tribe in the Sammamish River Valley in central King County, Washington. Their name is variously translated as ''ssts'p-abc'' ("meander dwellers", a group residing around Bothell), ''s-tah-PAHBSH'' ("willow people") or as ''Samena'' ("hunter people"), which was corrupted into Sammamish. According to Hitchman, it does not mean "hunter people": the name is derived from ''samma'', meaning "the sound of the blue crane" and ''mish'', meaning "river." The name may have originated with the Snoqualmie—some tribal members once lived along the lake near the bottom of Inglewood Hill—but this has not been verified. Area code 425 is a telephone dialing code in Washington for the suburbs north and east of Seattle, particularly the Eastside, extending east to North Bend, north to Everett, and south to Maple Valley. It includes the city of Bellevue, Seattle's largest suburb. The area code went into service on April 27, 1997, as part of a three-way split of area code 206 (the other of the three is 253).
