Bennet Woodcroft
Bennet Woodcroft FRS (20 December 1803 – 7 February 1879) was an English textile manufacturer, industrial archaeologist, pioneer of marine propulsion, a leading figure in patent reform and the first clerk to the commissioners of patents. Biography Woodcroft was born in Heaton Norris, Lancashire. He studied chemistry under Dalton, returning to Lancashire to join his father in business as a dyer and velvet finisher. In 1843 he began a career as a consulting engineer in Manchester and moved to London in 1846 taking up the chair of Professor of Machinery at University College London. In 1852 he was appointed Superintendent of Specifications in the Patent Office and in 1864 became the Clerk of Commissioners responsible for the direction of the office. During his tenure he founded the Patent Office Library, now part of the British Library, and the Patent Museum, whose collections are now in the Science Museum. Chris Woodcroft
Christopher Woodcroft (born March 14, 1965 in Hamilton, Ontario) is an educator and retired male wrestler from Canada. He was principal of Resurrection Catholic Secondary School in Kitchener, Ontario, and was one of 40 Canadian educators to receive the Canada's Outstanding Principal award from The Learning Partnership in January 2015. Woodcroft represented Canada at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, South Korea and the 1992 Summer Olympics in Barcelona, Spain. He placed 11th in his class (52.0 kg Freestyle) at the 1994 World Championship. He won medals at the 1986 Commonwealth Games (gold), 1987 Pan American Games (silver), and 1991 Pan American Games The 1991 Pan American Games were held in Havana, Cuba from August 2 to August 18, 1991. Craig Woodcroft
Craig Woodcroft (born December 3, 1969) is a Canadian professional ice hockey head coach and former forward. He is currently head coach of HC Dinamo Minsk of the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). During his playing career, he represented Team Canada internationally and spent nine years playing in Europe. He previously coached Adler Mannheim of the Deutsche Eishockey Liga (DEL) and Genève-Servette HC of the National League (NL). His brothers Jay and Todd have worked for NHL teams as scout and assistant coach. Playing career Woodcroft amassed 168 points (73 goals, 95 assists) over his four-year NCAA career at Colgate University. Jay Woodcroft (born August 11, 1976) is a Canadians, Canadian former professional ice hockey player who is the head coach of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League (NHL).
