Arthur Woodburn
Arthur Woodburn (25 October 1890 – 1 June 1978) was a Scottish Labour Party politician. Born in Edinburgh, he was educated at Heriot-Watt College. Imprisoned as a conscientious objector during World War I, Woodburn worked in engineering and ironfounding administration, and was a lecturer and national secretary of the Scottish Labour College. He was Secretary of the Scottish Council of the Labour Party from 1932 to 1939, and President of the National Council of Labour Colleges from 1937 to 1965. He also served on the Edinburgh 'Hands off Russia' committee in the 1930s. Woodburn was an unsuccessful candidate for Edinburgh South in 1929 and Edinburgh Leith in 1931; he was Member of Parliament (MP) for Clackmannan and East Stirlingshire from 1939 until 1970. Benjamin Luke Woodburn (born 15 October 1999) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for Preston North End and the Wales national team. Woodburn joined the football academy of Liverpool when he was seven years old. Nearly a decade later, upon making his senior debut in 2016, he became the third-youngest player ever to play for the club and, in just his second appearance, broke Michael Owen's long-standing record to become Liverpool's youngest goalscorer. He subsequently went on loan to Sheffield United but was restricted to just eight appearances before returning to Liverpool. The following season, he joined Oxford United on loan. Education Woodburn earned a bachelor's degree in electrical sciences from St John's College, Cambridge in 1992 and a PhD in engineering from Cambridge University, followed by an MBA from Erasmus University Rotterdam. Career Before working for BAE Systems, Woodburn was chief executive of Expro, Expro Group, which surveys and manages oil and gas wells around the world. William Woodburn
William Woodburn (April 14, 1838 – January 15, 1915) was an American politician and a member of the United States House of Representatives from Nevada. He immigrated with his parents to the United States in 1849. He attended St. Charles College, Maryland, studied law, and was admitted to the bar in 1866. He commenced the practice of law in Virginia City, Nevada. In 1871 and 1872, he was the district attorney of Storey County, Nevada. William Woodburn was elected as a Republican to the Forty-fourth Congress, which met from March 4, 1875, to March 3, 1877. He was later elected to the Forty-ninth and Fiftieth Congresses, and he served from March 4, 1885, to March 3, 1889. He resumed the practice of his profession in Virginia City, Nevada. William Alexander Woodburn (8 August 1919 – 2 December 2001) was a Scottish footballer who played for Rangers and Scotland. He was the last footballer in Britain to receive a life ban from the game for indiscipline, although the ban was later rescinded and he has since been inducted into both the Scottish Football Hall of Fame and the Rangers Hall of Fame.
