Woobens Pacius
Woobens Pacius (born May 11, 2001) is a Canadian soccer player who plays for Forge FC in the Canadian Premier League. Early life Pacius is a native of Terrebonne, Quebec. He joined the Montreal Impact Academy (later known as CF Montreal Academy) in 2017. From 2018 to 2019, a series of knee injuries sidelined him for a year and a half. He was invited to the pre-season camp for the first team ahead of the 2021 season. After attending the pre-season, he was not offered a first team contract, giving him the option of either joining the CF Montreal U23 team or leaving the club. Club career On August 8, 2021, Pacius signed with Canadian Premier League club Forge FC. He made his debut the same day, coming on as a substitute against Atlético Ottawa. Forge FC
Forge FC is a Canadian professional soccer club based in Hamilton, Ontario, that competes in the Canadian Premier League, the top tier of Canadian soccer. The club plays its home matches at Tim Hortons Field. Forge FC joined the CPL in 2019 as one of the league's seven inaugural teams. Pacific Football Club is a Canadian professional soccer club based in Greater Victoria, British Columbia. The club competes in the Canadian Premier League, playing home matches at Starlight Stadium located in Langford. History On May 5, 2018, "Port City FC" was one of four groups accepted by the Canadian Soccer Association for professional club membership, along with groups that would become Cavalry FC, HFX Wanderers, and York9. Port City was the only one of the four that was not identified with a specific city, and represented an as-of-yet undetermined location in British Columbia. 2022 Canadian Championship
The 2022 Canadian Championship was the fifteenth edition of Canada's national soccer cup tournament, awarding the Voyageurs Cup. It took place from May 10 to July 26, 2022. The winners of the tournament, Vancouver Whitecaps FC, were awarded the Voyageurs Cup and earned a berth in the 2023 CONCACAF Champions League. Format The competition followed a similar format to the 2021 edition with ten teams starting in the preliminary round and three teams receiving byes to the quarter-finals. CF Montréal and Toronto FC received byes for being the finalists of the 2021 tournament and Pacific FC received a bye for winning the 2021 Canadian Premier League season. 2020 Canadian Championship
The 2020 Canadian Championship was the thirteenth edition of Canada's national soccer cup tournament, awarding the Voyageurs Cup. It was held as a final between one representative each from Major League Soccer and the Canadian Premier League. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, a larger knockout tournament was to be held from June 16 to September 24, 2020, between twelve teams. The twelve teams originally planned to participate were the three MLS clubs, seven Canadian Premier League clubs, and the champions of League1 Ontario and Première ligue de soccer du Québec. The city of Ottawa had looked to be absent for the first time since 2013, with Ottawa Fury FC having suspended operations in late 2019, and Atlético Ottawa having joined the Canadian Premier League after the original draw had been finalized. 2022 Forge FC Season
The 2022 Forge FC season was the fourth season in the history of Forge FC. In addition to the Canadian Premier League, the club competed in the 2022 Canadian Championship and the previously delayed final of the 2020 Canadian Championship. Forge FC began its season in February by competing against Mexican club Cruz Azul in the CONCACAF Champions League, becoming the first Canadian Premier League club to play in the competition. CONCACAF League
The CONCACAF League was an annual continental club football competition organized by CONCACAF as its second-tier continental competition. It was announced on 8 May 2017. The competition uses a knockout cup format with each round having two legs. The top six teams proceed to the CONCACAF Champions League. From 2019 to 2022, the tournament featured 22 teams, an increase from 16 in the 2017 and 2018 editions. The competition ended after the 2022 edition due to the expansion of the CONCACAF Champions League, starting with the 2024 edition. 2021 Forge FC Season
The 2021 Forge FC season was the third season in the history of Forge FC. Forge were the defending league champions, having defeated HFX Wanderers FC in the 2020 Canadian Premier League Final. In addition to the domestic league, the club competed in the Canadian Championship and the CONCACAF League. On November 2, Forge FC defeated Santos de Guápiles in the quarter-finals of the CONCACAF League to qualify for the 2022 edition of the CONCACAF Champions League, becoming the first Canadian Premier League club to do so. The 2023 Canadian Premier League final was the soccer match to determine the winner of the 2023 Canadian Premier League season. It was played October 28, 2023, in Hamilton, Ontario, between Forge FC and Cavalry FC. The match was the fifth edition of the CPL Finals, the post-season championship of the Canadian Premier League, the top level of Canadian soccer. Forge were the defending champions, having won the 2022 Canadian Premier League final. Forge defeated Cavalry 2–1 in extra time to capture their fourth title. Cavalry opened the scoring in the 101st minute from a curling strike by Ali Musse before Forge's Béni Badibanga quickly scored an equalizer.
