Women In Revolt
''Women in Revolt'' is a 1971 American satirical film produced by Andy Warhol and directed by Paul Morrissey. The film stars Jackie Curtis, Candy Darling, and Holly Woodlawn, three trans women and superstars of Warhol's Factory scene. It also features soundtrack music by John Cale. This film is notable as the last with Warhol behind the camera. During production from 1970 to 1971, Jackie Curtis insisted that Warhol shoot the film, or she threatened to leave the project. The film satirizes the Women's Liberation Movement, and alludes to Valerie Solanas and the ''SCUM Manifesto''. Plot Holly and Jackie form a small group of "women's libbers." They convince Candy, a wealthy socialite who has an incestous relationship with her brother, to join them at their meetings. The group needs Candy's membership to bring money and "glamour" to their cause. Paul Morrissey
Paul Morrissey (born February 23, 1938) is an American film director, best known for his association with Andy Warhol. He was also director of the first film in which a transgender actress, Holly Woodlawn, starred as a girlfriend of the main character played by Joe Dallesandro in ''Trash'' (1970). Life and career Of Irish extraction, Morrissey attended Ampleforth College and Fordham University, both Catholic schools, and later served in the United States Army. A political conservative and self-described "right-winger", who has publicly protested against immorality and anti-Catholicism, Morrissey's long-term collaboration with the low-keyed, apparently apolitical Warhol was viewed by many as "a successful mismatch", although both men did share some traits, e.g. both were practicing Catholics from ethnic backgrounds (Warhol was of Rusyn descent). Michael Joel Sklar (July 12, 1944 – March 5, 1984) was an American actor, writer, songwriter, and fashion retailer. He was best known as a Warhol superstar, starring in multiple films by Warhol and Paul Morrissey before his death. Sklar died of lymphoma at the New York University Medical Center on March 5, 1984, and was survived by his mother, Bertha Sklar, a sister, Carol Wueste, and a brother, Norman Sklar.
