Women In Arts Award
The Women in Arts Award is an award established in 2019 by UN Women Ukraine and the Ukrainian Institute, and presented as part of HeForShe Ukraine's annual arts week in March. Only women are nominated for the award; its purpose is to bring attention to the achievements of female artists in Ukraine, who have been historically overlooked by the Ukrainian arts scene. Oksana Zabuzhko
Oksana Stefanivna Zabuzhko ( uk, Окса́на Стефа́нівна Забу́жко) is a Ukrainian novelist, poet, and essayist. Her works have been translated into several languages. She has been accused of relativising the Volhynian Massacre Life Born 19 September 1960 in Lutsk, Ukraine. The writer's father, Stefan (Stepan) Ivanovych Zabuzhko (1926-1983) was a teacher, literary critic, and translator, the first to translate the stories of the Czech composer and writer Ilja Hurník into Ukrainian, and was repressed during Stalin's regime. According to Zabuzhko, she received her philological education at home. The repressions against the Ukrainian intelligentsia that began in September 1965 forced the family to leave Lutsk, and since 1968 she has lived in Kyiv. Sofia Andrukhovych
Sofia Yuriyivna Andrukhovych ( uk, Софія Юріївна Андрухович, born 17 November 1982) is a Ukrainian writer and translator. The wife of Andriy Bondar, Ukrainian writer. Life and career Sofia Andrukhovych was born in Ivano-Frankivsk, the daughter of Yurii Andrukhovych. She is married to a Ukrainian writer Andriy Bondar, with whom she has a daughter Varvara, born 10 March 2008. Andrukhovych is a co-editor of ''Chetver'' periodical. In 2004 she received a residence grant from Villa Decius Association in Kraków where she used to live. She now resides in Kyiv. In December 2014, her novel ''Felix Austria'' won BBC Ukrainian's Book of the Year 2014 award. Iryna Tsilyk (Ukrainian: Ірина Цілик; born 18 November 1982) is Ukrainian filmmaker and writer, the member of Ukrainian PEN International. The winner of the “Directing Award: World Cinema Documentary” for the film "The Earth Is Blue as an Orange" at 2020 Sundance Film Festival. Biography and career Iryna Tsilyk was born in Kyiv. Tamara Viktorovna Trunova (born May 5, 1982) is a Ukrainian theater director, the Chief Director of the Kyiv Academic Theatre of Drama and Comedy on the left bank of Dnieper. Biography Trunova was born in Nova Kakhovka, Kherson Oblast. She graduated from high school with a gold medal. Trunova graduated as a translator from the Kyiv National Linguistic University (1999-2004). She studied directing at the Kyiv National I. K. Oksana Lyniv ( uk, Оксана Линів; born 6 January 1978) is a Ukrainian conductor. Biography Born in Brody (then in the Ukrainian SSR), Lyniv is the daughter of two musicians and the granddaughter of a choral conductor. Her father is also a choral conductor. In her youth, she studied piano, flute, violin and singing. From 1992 to 1996, she studied flute and conducting at the Stanislav Liudkevych Music School in Lviv. She first conducted an orchestra at age 16, which aroused her interest in conducting. From 1996 to 2003, she was a conducting student at the Lysenko music academy in Lviv, where her teachers included Bogdan Dashak. Natalya Anatoliyivna Vorozhbyt ( uk, Наталія Анатоліївна Ворожбит}) (born 4 April 1975) is a Ukrainian playwright and screenwriter. Life Vorozhbyt graduated in 2000 from the Maxim Gorky Literature Institute. She has also studied at the International Writers Program. She writes her scripts in both Russian and Ukrainian. Together with the German director Georg Zheno she founded the Theater of the Displaced, where refugees from Donbas can tell their stories, and curated the Class Act project.
