''Women Are Like That'' (French: ''Comment qu'elle est?'') is a 1960 French spy thriller film directed by Bernard Borderie and starring Eddie Constantine, Françoise Brion and Alfred Adam. It is based on the 1945 novel '' I'll Say She Does'' by the British writer Peter Cheyney featuring hardboiled FBI agent Lemmy Caution.Goble p.82 It was part of a series of films featuring Constantine as Caution, inspired by the books by Cheyney who had a large French following. The film's sets were designed by the art director René Moulaert. Synopsis Federal agent Lemmy Caution arrives in France to hunt down a spy known as Varley, but finds himself in a rivalry with the French police who are also chasing the same lead. Lemmy Caution
Lemmy Caution is a fictional character created by British writer Peter Cheyney (1896–1951). Caution was first portrayed as a Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) agent, and in later stories as a private detective. Cheyney's first book with the character was published in 1936. When ''This Man Is Dangerous'' was released, Cheyney was working as a policeman, but the novel's success enabled him to become a professional author. Cheyney wrote eleven Lemmy Caution novels between 1936 and 1946. The Lemmy Caution radio series was broadcast in the 1940s in Australia and New Zealand. Although Caution is an American character created by a British writer, he has yet to appear in an English-language film. However, he has appeared in around 15 European films, most of them French, from 1952 to 1991. In all but the first of these films, he was always played by the same actor, Eddie Constantine, who was indelibly associated with the role for life. In 1983, she received the Volpi Cup for Best Actress for her performance in the film '' Sugar Cane Alley''. Françoise Prévost (13 January 1930 – 30 November 1997) was a French actress, journalist and author. She was the daughter of writer Marcelle Auclair. She appeared in more than 70 films between 1949 and 1985. Life and career Prévost was born and died in Paris, France. She made her film debut at 18, in '' Jean de la Lune''.
