Women (1966 Film)
''Women'' (russian: Женщины, Zhenshchiny) is a 1966 Soviet drama film directed by Pavel Lyubimov. Based on the story of the same name by Irina Velembovskaya. Plot The film takes place after the war. The film tells about women workers, their joys and failures. Yevdokia Kuzina arrives in the early fifties from the village to the city, accidentally meets a furniture factory worker, Yekaterina Bednova, a widow with her son, who settles her in her house and helps her get a job at the factory. After a while, Yevdokia begins to meet with Yuri, known to the entire factory. Their relationship ends with an unsuccessful abortion, and Yevdokia learns that she will no longer have children. Pavel Lyubimov
Pavel Grigoryevich Lyubimov (7 September 1938 – 23 June 2010) was a Russians, Russian film director and screenwriter. Biography In 1962, he graduated from the directing department of the Gerasimov Institute of Cinematography, State Institute of Cinematography (Studios Grigori Roshal, Roshal and Hanicke). In 1964 he began working at Gorky Film Studio. In 1964 his thesis film ''Aunt with Violets'' was awarded a festival prize in Kraków. He was awarded a Silver Dovzhenko Medal for his directing of the film ''Spring Appeal'', with Alexander Fatyushin and Igor Kostolevsky in the leading roles. Creatively Lyubimov had an inherent interest in contemporary issues hidden in everyday life. ''Women'' and ''Spring Appeal'' are among his most admired films. He was named a Merited Artist of the Russian Federation, Meritorious Artist of the Russian Federation in (2000). He died on 23 June 2010. Irina Vsevolodovna Murzaeva (russian: Ири́на Все́володовна Мурза́ева; May 15, 1906 — January 3, 1988) was a Soviet actress of theater and cinema. Biography She graduated from the GITIS, Lunacharsky Theater College (1927). In 1927-1928 and 1930-1931 an actress Sverdlovsk Youth Theater, in 1928-1937 Ruben Simonov's theater studio, in 1937-1956 an actress and director of Moscow Lenkom Theatre. In the movie she made her debut in the film ''Four Hearts (1941 film), Four Hearts'' by Konstantin Yudin. Repeatedly shot in the newsreels ''Yeralash'' and ''Fitil''. One of the most popular comic old women of Soviet cinema. She died on January 3, 1988, in Moscow at the age of 82. Buried in Moscow in the Don Cemetery. Vitaly Mefodievich Solomin (russian: link=no, Виталий Мефодьевич Соломин; 12 December 194127 May 2002) was a Soviet and Russian actor, director and screenwriter, best remembered for playing Dr. Watson in a series of Sherlock Holmes adaptations for Soviet television. He was the younger brother of Yury Solomin. Biography Vitaly Solomin was born in 1941 in Chita, Zabaykalsky Krai, Soviet Union, to a family of professional musicians. From childhood he was fascinated by music and learned to play the piano. On leaving school he went to Moscow and in 1959 he entered Shchepkin's drama school. He studied in the class of Nikolay Annenkov. While a student, Vitaly rehearsed and performed at the Maly Theatre. After finishing the school he became an actor at this theater.
