''Woman of Darkness'' or ''The Yngsjö Murder'' (Swedish: ''Yngsjömordet'') is a 1966 Swedish historical crime film directed by Arne Mattsson and starring Gunnel Lindblom, Christina Schollin and Gösta Ekman. It was shot at the Råsunda Studios in Stockholm. The film's sets were designed by the art director P.A. Lundgren. It was based on the real Yngsjö murder case of 1889. Arne Mattsson
Arne Mattsson (2 December 1919 – 28 June 1995) was a Swedish film director. Biography Born in Uppsala, the early films of Mattsson were mostly comedies. His biggest success was '' Hon dansade en sommar'' (1951, aka. ''One Summer of Happiness''), which earned him the Golden Bear at the Berlin International Film Festival and a nomination for the Grand Prize at the Cannes Film Festival in 1952. It caused some controversy at the time because it contained nudity. His 1953 film of Peder Sjögren's second novel, ''Bread of Love'' (''Kärlekens bröd''), based on Sjögren's experiences as a volunteer in the Finnish Continuation War of 1941–44 angered the author, was banned in Finland and incurred the wrath of the Soviets at the Cannes Film Festival. Yngsjö Murder
The Yngsjö murder is the common name of one of Sweden's most notorious murder cases, which occurred on March 28, 1889 in Yngsjö, Skåne. Background Anna Månsdotter was born in a village near Kristianstad in southern Sweden on 28 December 1841. She married a farmer Nils Nilsson (b. 1828) and moved to a simple farmhouse on the edge of a village on the Baltic Sea. They had three children but only one survived into adulthood. The farm got into financial difficulties and Nils became ill. He died in 1883 leaving her with her 21 year old son Per Nilsson to run the farm. Partly to quell rumours of incest between mother and son she organised for Per to marry Hanna Johansdotter (b. 1867), from a neighbouring village, and daughter of Johan Olson, a district judge, and his wife Hanna Andersdotter. Gudrun ( ; non, Guðrún) or Kriemhild ( ; gmh, Kriemhilt) is the wife of Sigurd/Siegfried and a major figure in Germanic heroic legend and literature. Arne Strand (17 March 1944 – 10 May 2023) was a Norwegian journalist and politician for the Labour Party. He was the political editor in the newspaper ''Dagsavisen'' until his death. Strand graduated from the University of Oslo with the cand.mag. degree in 1968. He worked as a journalist in '' Vårt Land'' from 1964 to 1966, in ''Arbeiderbladet'' from 1966 to 1976, and in the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation from 1976 to 1987. Gösta Bernhard (26 September 1910 – 4 January 1986) was a Swedish actor, film director and screenwriter. He appeared in more than 30 films between 1936 and 1975. He also directed 17 films between 1947 and 1975. He was born in Västervik, Kalmar County, Sweden and died in Stockholm, Sweden.
