Wolfshagen Im Harz
Wolfshagen im Harz (or Wolfshagen) is a subdivision of the town of Langelsheim in the district of Goslar in Lower Saxony, Germany. Geography Wolfshagen im Harz is located in the Upper Harz on the northern edge of the Harz in the Harz Nature Park. It is located between the Innerste Dam in the west and the Grane Dam in the east and between the towns of Seesen in the Westsüdwesten and Goslar in the east at about 260 to 430 m above sea level. Northeast of the center lies Heimberg (352.5 m). Through the village runs the Harz Försterstieg. In addition, the starting point of the Steinway Trails which ends in Seesen is in Wolfshagen im Harz. Wolfshagen in the Harz was first mentioned in 1316 as Wulveshagen; the place name ending -hagen indicates the settlement as a place of the medieval deforestation period. Goslar (district)
Goslar () is a district in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is bounded by (from the south and clockwise) the districts of Göttingen, Northeim, Hildesheim and Wolfenbüttel, the city of Salzgitter, and by the states of Saxony-Anhalt (district of Harz) and Thuringia (Nordhausen). History The history of the district is linked with the city of Goslar. The district of Goslar was established in the 19th century by the Prussian government. Innerste Dam
The Innerste Dam (german: Innerstetalsperre) is a dam on the Innerste river, which lies near Langelsheim and Wolfshagen in the Harz mountains. It was built between 1963 and 1966 and belongs to the ''Harzwasserwerke''. Its purposes are the supply of drinking water, flood protection, water flow regulation and hydroelectric power generation. The average annual discharge through the Innerste Dam is 60 million m³. Structures The Innerste is an earth-fill dam with multiple, external, asphaltic concrete layers. It has an inspection gangway along its whole length on the upstream apron. In front of the upstream base of the dam is a shaft spillway (a flood overflow tower), into which also the bottom outlet is integrated. Grane Dam
The Grane Dam (german: Granetalsperre) is a dam above the village of Astfeld/Herzog-Juliushütte in the borough of Langelsheim in the Lower Saxon part of the Harz mountains. Dam system It is the newest dam in the Harz, built in 1969 in the Grane valley. Because the river Grane itself does not deliver enough water for the 3 km long reservoir, a 7.4 km long diversion channel was built from the Oker river below the Oker Dam. This also collects water from the Gose on the way. A further 4.8 km long diversion runs from the Radau to the Großer Romke and thus into the Oker-Grane Tunnel as well. Seesen
Seesen is a town and municipality in the Goslar (district), district of Goslar, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated on the northwestern edge of the Harz mountain range, approx. west of Goslar. ''Pelobates fuscus'' is a species of toad in the family Pelobatidae, native to an area extending from Central Europe to Western Asia. It is commonly known as the common spadefoot, garlic toad, the common spadefoot toad and the European common spadefoot. The common spadefoot grows to a length of approximately for males and for females. The skin colouration varies depending upon habitat, gender and region, but is usually light-grey to beige-brown on the dorsal surface.
