Wolfgang Kindl (born 18 April 1988) is an Austrian world champion luger who has competed since 2007. Competitive career At the FIL European Luge Championships 2010 in Sigulda, he won silver medals in the men's singles and mixed team events. At the 5 December 2014 men's singles event in Lake Placid, New York, Kindl placed second, behind American Tucker West, with Dominik Fischnaller of Italy coming in third. Kindl finished the 2014-15 Luge World Cup third overall in the men's singles discipline. During the following 2015-16 Luge World Cup season, Kinda finished 2nd in the men's singles category. behind Felix Loch of Germany. In the 2017-17 Luge World Cup campaign Kindl finished third behind respectively, the repeating world champion, Felix Loch, and Roman Repilov of Russia. Roman Alexandrovich Repilov (russian: Роман Александрович Репилов; born 5 March 1996) is a Russian luger. Competitive career Representing Russia at the 2015–16 Luge World Cup, Repilov placed second in the sprint event in Calgary with a time of 30.279. On 2 December 2016, he came in fifth in the Lake Placid event of the Men's Singles 2016-17 Luge World Cup, but set a new Lake Placid track start record of 6.359 seconds. Then later in the same season he triumphed in the men's singles event at Park City, Utah, came in second twice, in Winterberg, Germany and Sigulda, Latvia and won two men's singles sprint events in Park City and Sigulda. Felix Loch
Felix Loch (; born 24 July 1989) is a German luger and Olympic champion. He has been competing since 1995 and on the German national team since 2006. He has won fourteen medals at the FIL World Luge Championships with twelve golds (Men's singles: 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016; Men's sprint 2016: Mixed team event: 2008, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016) and two silvers (Men's singles: 2011, 2015). Loch's men's singles win in 2008 made him the youngest world champion ever at 18 years old. He is the youngest Olympic Gold Medalist in men's luge history. As of 2022, Loch is a triple Olympic gold medalist. Career At the 2008 FIL European Luge Championships in Cesana, Italy, he finished sixth in the men's singles event. Dominik Fischnaller
Dominik Fischnaller (born 20 February 1993) is an Italian luger who has competed since 2002. He has won silver and two bronze medals at Junior World Championships. Fischnaller won the Junior Luge World Cup for the 2010–11 season. His best Luge World Cup overall finish was third 2013–14 Luge World Cup. Fischnaller is an athlete of the Centro Sportivo Carabinieri. Biography Fischnaller competed for Italy in the Men's singles luge event at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi. He placed sixth behind the bronze medal effort of teammate Armin Zöggeler. Fischnaller also competed for Italy in the Men's singles luge event at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Tucker West (born June 15, 1995) is an American luger who, at the age of 18, was the youngest male ever to qualify to represent the United States in the men's luge at the Olympics. West placed 22nd in the men's single competition at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Career West attended National Sports Academy High in Lake Placid, New York. Before going away to school he was a resident of Ridgefield, Connecticut. When West was a boy, his father designed and built a wood luge track in the backyard of their Ridgefield home. West attends Union College in Schenectady, New York. Lake Placid is a village in the Adirondack Mountains in Essex County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 2,303. The village of Lake Placid is near the center of the town of North Elba, southwest of Plattsburgh. Sigulda
Sigulda (; german: Segewold, pl, Zygwold, russian: Сигулда) is a town in the Vidzeme region of Latvia, from the capital city Riga. Overview Sigulda is on a picturesque stretch of the primeval Gauja river valley. Because of the reddish Devonian sandstone which forms steep rocks and caves on both banks of the river, Sigulda has been called the "Switzerland of Vidzeme". After the restoration of Latvian independence in 1991, an emphasis was placed on conserving Sigulda's public monuments and parks as well as improving the town's tourist sector.
