Abraham Woyna
Abraham Woyna (Wojna; lt, Abraomas Vaina) (1569–1649) was a Roman Catholic priest and auxiliary bishop of Vilnius (1611–1626), bishop of Samogitia (1626–1631) and then bishop of Vilnius (1631–1649). His term in office was marked by the rise of Calvinism in the Polish–Lithuanian Commonwealth, to which he was actively opposed. Among his achievements was the foundation of the monasteries of the Discalced Carmelites and the Good Friars in Vilna (modern Vilnius, Lithuania), the latter of which also opened up a hospital and a pharmacy nearby. Ed Wojna
Edward David Wojna (pronounced Wo-hee-na) (born August 20, 1960) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. He played parts of four seasons in Major League Baseball (MLB) with the San Diego Padres and Cleveland Indians. Wojna is of Polish descent. Early career Wojna attended Masuk High School and then played at Indian River Junior College. He was drafted by the Philadelphia Phillies. He was traded by the Philadelphia Phillies with Marty Decker, Darren Burroughs and Lance McCullers to the San Diego Padres on August 31, 1983 as part of trade in which the Padres gave up Sixto Lezcano and a player to be named later (Steve Fireovid). Major league career Wojna made his debut with the Padres in 1985, but was seldom used on a very strong pitching staff. In 1986 he enjoyed his best season by going 2–2 with a 3.23 ERA. Valerie Wojna
Valerie E. Wojna Muñiz is a Puerto Rican neurologist and professor of neurology at University of Puerto Rico, Medical Sciences Campus. Education Wojna graduated from University of Puerto Rico School of Medicine (UPR) in 1984. At UPR, she completed an internship in internal medicine (1985), a residency in neurology (1988), and a fellowship in clinical neurophysiology (1990). Career Wojna is a professor of neurology at the University of Puerto Rico, where she researches neurologic disorders, insulin resistance, and Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) associated neurocognitive disorder (HAND). With immunologist Loyda M. Meléndez, Wojna used proteomics to research the causes of HAND. Wojna has also combined some of her interests; for example with collaborators she has investigated insulin resistance in HIV patients, and she is part of a study that looks for a "comparison between the cognitive damage caused by the virus between women and men in Puerto Rico."
