Low Spirit Recordings was a German techno record label. History Founded in 1986 by Maximilian Lenz ( Westbam), Fabian Lenz (DJ Dick), William Röttger, Klaus Jankuhn and Sandra Molzahn. The first record was WestBam's ''17 - This Is Not a Boris Becker Song'' which reached #1 in the Berlin dance music hitlist. Low Spirit became acquainted with the Love Parade event from its early years and the theme for its 1997 event, titled ''Sonic Empire'', has reached the top of the German single charts. The label was later praised for "having made German techno history" by "Raveline" magazine. In the 1990s, Low Spirit was also owner of the event ''Mayday''. The label was shut down and all future distributions by Low Spirit were taken over by Kontor Records in 2007. Klaus Jankuhn
Klaus Jankuhn (born 12 January 1965) is a German record producer and musician, considered a pioneer in the early German techno scene. He mostly worked for the artists of the rave label Low Spirit, producing artists such as WestBam, Marusha or DJ Dick. Together with WestBam he also founded the project Members of Mayday. Life Klaus Jankuhn grew up in Münster, where he befriended with WestBam. Both started producing tracks for the early techno and rave scene. Around 1986 he moved to Berlin. One of their first tracks ''17 – This is not a Boris Becker Song'' was released in 1985 under the moniker ''Cowboy Temple''. Soon after Jankuhn, WestBam, Fabian Lenz and William Röttger founded the label Low Spirit. Matt Darey
Matthew Jonathan Darey (born 29 November 1968) is an English trance music producer and performer. Darey has sold over two million albums and singles with numerous top 10 and top 20 chart hits. Music career Darey was born in Leicester, England. Some of his earliest solo work was under the name Lost Tribe, releasing the EP ''The Distant Voices'' in 1997. The single "Gamemaster" reached number 24 on the UK Singles Chart in 1999. In addition to production and remixing work for other artists, Darey began releasing music under his own name in 2004. In 2005 he debuted a new show on Digitally Imported called ''Nocturnal'', which became a weekly show the following year. Red Jerry
Hooj Choons is a house record label formed by Alex Simons and Red Jerry (real name Jeremy Dickens) in 1990. The first release was "Carnival de Casa" by Rio Rhythm Band, however, it was not until 1992's release of Felix's "Don't You Want Me", which Red Jerry and Faithless founder-member Rollo co-produced, that Hooj Choons had their first crossover hit. Over the next ten years, Hooj Choons had several notable releases including productions from artists such as Diss-Cuss, Tilt, Oliver Lieb and JX. The label built up a roster of popular club hits and smaller underground classics over 20 years. Dissolution In 2003, Hooj announced its dissolution as a record label. Hooj Choons was dissolved having released 136 singles plus a dozen or so album-length compilations.
