Green Wix Unthank (June 14, 1923 – June 25, 2013) was an American attorney and United States district judge of the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Kentucky, from 1980 to 1988, when he took senior status. A veteran of World War II, he went to college and to law school after the war. He served as a judge of Harlan County Court, had a private practice for several years, and also served as an Assistant United States Attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky. Education and career Unthank was born on June 14, 1923 in Tway, Kentucky, an unincorporated community in Harlan County. He was the son of Green W. Unthank and Estelle (née Howard) Unthank, who were both teachers in the Harlan County public school system. Don Wix (born May 14, 1946, in Carrollton, Georgia) was a member of the Georgia General Assembly in the U.S. state of Georgia. Wix is a Democrat who represented District 33, which encompasses parts of southern Cobb County, from 1997 to 2010. Wix graduated from the University of Georgia in Athens in 1968 with a BBA degree. Ven. Edward Wix (1802–1866) was an English clergyman best known as an Anglican missionary in Canada. Early life Edward Wix was the eldest son of Samuel Wix (1771-1861), a noted controversialist and high churchman, and his wife Frances Walford (1781-1851). Edward Wix was educated at the Merchant Taylors’ School in London. He graduated from Trinity College, Oxford with a B.A. in 1824, and was ordained as a priest in 1825. In Nova Scotia Wix served in the Diocese of Nova Scotia under Bishop John Inglis, initially as the Bishop's chaplain. According to the records of the Society for the Propagation of the Gospel (S.P.G.), Wix was in Halifax from 1826 to 1830, although he traveled to England in 1828, where he recovered from typhus, married and completed his M.A.. He became Archdeacon of Newfoundland in 1830, arriving in St. John's on June 18 of that year. Biography Born on 16 May 1883, in Hertfordshire in England, Wix would make her screen debut in the 1924 film ''Secrets'', starring Betty Compson and Noah Beery. Henry Otto Wix
Henry Otto Wix (1866–1922), also known as Otto Wix, was a German-born landscape and portrait painter who emigrated to the United States in the late 1890s. He studied in New York, but visited Hawaii in 1907 and 1908–9. About 1910, he moved to San Francisco, but visited Hawaii again in 1912. He also made several sketching trips to Mexico. Wix's marriage ended in divorce, resulting in depression and alcoholism. He died by his own hand in Santa Barbara, California on March 13, 1922. Wix is best known for his landscapes in watercolor. Samuel Wix
Samuel Wix (1771–1861) was an English cleric and controversialist. Life Born in London on 9 February 1771, he was the second son of Edward Wix of St. Peter's, Cornhill. He was educated at Charterhouse School under Samuel Berdmore, and was admitted at the Inner Temple (16 August 1783). He studied at Christ's College, Cambridge, where he was admitted pensioner on 8 November 1791, and elected scholar on 6 December 1792. He graduated B.A. in 1796 and M.A. in 1799. Wix was ordained deacon in 1798 and priest in 1800. After holding a number of curacies, he was presented in 1802 to the living of Inworth, Essex. Six years later he was elected hospitaller and vicar of St Bartholomew's the Less in London. He was also for a time president of Sion College. A fellow of the Royal Society and the Society of Antiquaries of London. He died at the vicarage, St. Bartholomew's, London, on 4 September 1861. In a career spanning more than 40 years, Wickens has worked with artists including Nik Kershaw, Bob Dylan, Joni Mitchell, Bon Jovi, Edie Brickell, Kevin Coyne and many others.
