Wiwa Korowi
Sir Wiwa Korowi (born 7 July 1948) is a Papua New Guinean politician who served as the sixth governor-general of Papua New Guinea from November 1991 until November 1997. Sir Wiwa is from the Southern Highlands. He was Speaker of the Assembly when Serei Eri resigned his position as governor-general on October 1, 1991. Young served as acting governor-general until the selection of Wiwa Korowi on November 18, 1991. Young was born in England in 1936. He served as the Speaker of the National Parliament of Papua New Guinea from August 1982 to October 1982 and from November 1987 to July 1992. Vincent Eri
Sir Vincent Serei Eri (12 September 1936 – 25 May 1993) was a Papua New Guinean politician who served as the fifth governor-general of Papua New Guinea from February 1990 to October 1991. Life Eri attended the University of Papua New Guinea. Upon graduation, he worked as a school teacher and later became the director of education. In 1975, he was appointed Papua New Guinea's first Consul General in Australia. From 1975 to 1979, he also served as High Commissioner. Together with Ted Diro, he founded the People's Action Party in 1986 and was elected to the National Parliament. He succeeded Kingsford Dibela as Governor-General of Papua New Guinea on 27 February 1990 and was awarded the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of St Michael and St George. Sir Silas Atopare (1951 – 16 September 2021) was a Papua New Guinean politician who served as the seventh governor-general of Papua New Guinea from November 1997 until November 2003. Early life and education Atopare was born in Kabiufa, near Goroka in what is now the Eastern Highlands Province of Papua New Guinea. He attended Kabiufa Primary School, which was a Seventh-day Adventist Church school and then went to Kambubu Adventist High School in East New Britain Province. He always remained a member of the Adventist Church. In 1967 he joined the Department of Agriculture and Livestock and in 1974 he became a coffee plantation manager. Sir William Jack Skate (26 September 1953 – 3 January 2006) was a prominent Papua New Guinea politician. He was the son of an Australian father and a Papua New Guinean mother. Though his career was turbulent and often marked by setbacks, he served in the highest posts in his country: prime minister of Papua New Guinea, speaker of the National Parliament, and as acting governor-general of Papua New Guinea.
