Leslie John Witts
Leslie John Witts (1898–1982) was a British physician and pioneering haematologist. Biography L. J. Witts received secondary education at Boteler Grammar School, where he won in 1916 a scholarship to the University of Manchester. During WWI when he reached the age of 18 he joined the Inns of Court Officers Training Corps and then the Royal Field Artillery. Serving on the western front, he suffered a leg wound and was invalided back to civilian life. From 1919 to 1923 he studied at the University of Manchester, graduating there MB ChB in 1923. After house appointments, he became Dickinson travelling scholar of the University of Manchester and graduated there in 1926 with his higher MD thesis on blood research. He qualified MRCP in 1926. In 1926 Howard Florey became a Fellow of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge and vacated his John Lucas Walker Studentship at the University of Cambridge. David Witts
David Peter S. Witts (born 30 June 1991) is a British actor and model, best known for his portrayal of Joey Branning in the long-running British television soap opera, ''EastEnders'', in which he appeared from 2012 to 2013. Early life Witts attended Southend High School for Boys, where he first discovered his passion for acting. For a number of years, he trained with the National Youth Music Theatre and the National Youth Theatre of Great Britain. George Backhouse Witts (1846 – 6 September 1912) was a British civil engineer and archaeologist who specialised in the prehistoric barrows of Gloucestershire. His ''Archaeological Handbook of the County of Gloucester'' (1883), the first such survey of the county, remained a standard work until the mid-20th century. He later became a notable figure in the life of Leckhampton in Gloucestershire and as the local magistrate was once required to read the Riot Act on Leckhampton Hill to disperse a crowd of protesters intent on property damage. Andrew Witts (born 22 August 1961) is a former Australian rules footballer who played with Collingwood in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Witts, who came from amateur club Old Melburnians, was already 23 when he played his only season at Collingwood in 1985. He debuted against Essendon in round 15 and remained in the team until round 21, for a total of seven games. His guernsey number, 65, was the highest ever regular number worn by a player in VFL/AFL history. If one-off numbers are considered, Geelong player Harry Taylor wore 85 after the unlikely scenario of being sent off with a blood rule twice in the same game and therefore not having a second spare guernsey; to this day, it's unclear why there was an 85 guernsey available.
