Witton Country Park
Witton Country Park is a 480-acre (1.9 km²) public park in the west of Blackburn, Lancashire, England. Around half of the country park is mixed woodland and parkland, while the rest is either farmland or rough grassland with open access. A visitors' centre features stables with exhibitions of old horse-drawn farm machinery, farm hand-tools and a natural history room. A mammal centre houses shrews, voles, ferrets, rabbits and other animals, which are on display. History Witton House and its gardens were created for Joseph Feilden in 1800. Lieutenant General Randle Joseph Feilden, his second son, was a member of parliament. The estate was used by the British Army in both world wars and then, in 1946, thanks in part due to a large donation by Robert Edward Hart, it was acquired by Blackburn Council. Joseph Feilden
Lieutenant General Randle Joseph Feilden, (1824 – 19 May 1895) was a British Army officer, businessman and Conservative politician who represented several Lancashire constituencies. Feilden was born at Clifton, Bristol, the second son of Joseph Feilden of Witton Park, Lancashire. A brother was Canon Feilden. He was an officer in the 60th Rifles. He was elected MP for North Lancashire in 1880, and when the constituency was restructured became MP for Chorley. He held the seat until his death. In 1861, Feilden married his first cousin once removed, Jane Campbell Hozier, daughter of James Hozier, Esq. of Maudslie Castle, Lanarkshire, by Catherine Margaret, second daughter of Sir William Feilden, 1st Baronet. Witton Park Academy is a coeducational secondary school located in the west of Blackburn, Lancashire, England. Witton Park is for children aged 11–16. Race For Life
Race for Life is a series of fundraising events, organised by charity Cancer Research UK. They involve running, jogging or walking a 5-kilometre, 10-kilometre or 'Pretty Muddy' course and raising sponsorship for doing so. The money raises funds for cancer research in all 200 types of cancer. The Race for Life series of events is open to people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds take part in the Race for Life, and with more than 150 Race for Life 5k events across the United Kingdom. Liberty X (originally called Liberty) are a British-Irish group originally consisting of Michelle Heaton, Tony Lundon, Kevin Simm, Jessica Taylor and Kelli Young. The group was formed by the five finalists of the 2001 ITV talent show ''Popstars'' who failed to make it into the winning group Hear'Say. In 2013 Liberty X's full members returned for the ITV2 documentary series ''The Big Reunion'' and toured until 2014. Since 2017, Heaton, Taylor and Young have performed as a girls trio.
