Without Regret (film)
''Without Regret'' is a 1935 American drama film directed by Harold Young and starring Elissa Landi, Paul Cavanagh and Frances Drake. It also features an early appearance by David Niven. It was based on the play ''Interference'' the British writers Roland Pertwee and Harold Dearden which had previously been turned into a 1928 silent film of the same title. The film was released on September 13, 1935, by Paramount Pictures. Premise After returning to England and unwittingly committing bigamy, a young woman is threatened with blackmail. Harold Young (director)
Harold Young (November 13, 1897 – March 3, 1972) was an American film director, editor, and occasional actor. Career Young was born in 1897 in Portland, Oregon, where he was raised and attended high school. After graduating from Columbia University, Young began his career as a film editor from 1923-1934, working first on a series of George O'Hara (actor), George O'Hara short subjects under the director Malcolm St. Clair (filmmaker), Malcolm St. Clair. Young's best-known early directorial assignment is probably ''The Scarlet Pimpernel (1934 film), The Scarlet Pimpernel'' (1934), starring Leslie Howard (actor), Leslie Howard and Merle Oberon, one example of his occasional work in Britain. Kent Taylor (born Louis William Weiss; May 11, 1907 – April 11, 1987) was an American actor of film and television. Taylor appeared in more than 110 films, the bulk of them B-movies in the 1930s and 1940s, although he also had roles in more prestigious studio releases, including ''Merrily We Go to Hell'' (1932), ''I'm No Angel'' (1933), '' Cradle Song'' (1933), ''Death Takes a Holiday'' (1934), ''Payment on Demand'' (1951), and ''Track the Man Down'' (1955). He had the lead role in '' Half Past Midnight'' in 1948, among a few others. Early years Kent Taylor was born Louis William Weiss on May 11, 1907 to a Jewish family in Nashua, Iowa, Taylor moved with his family to Waterloo, Iowa, when he was 7.
