Witchelina Nature Reserve, in South Australia, is situated on a former pastoral lease known as Witchelina that had operated as both a sheep station and cattle station, before being converted into a nature reserve by the Nature Foundation. The station gave its name to the locality of Witchelina, South Australia, Witchelina. The property is situated approximately north west of Leigh Creek, South Australia, Leigh Creek and north of Adelaide, South Australia, Adelaide. The country is made up of gibber plains, Eucalyptus cladocalyx, red river gum and coolibah woodlands, Chenopodium, bluebush shrubland, Atriplex, saltbush plains and acacia dunefields. History The traditional owners of the area are the Adnyamathanha and Arabunna peoples; Witchelina straddles of the boundary of both the groups' traditional lands. The locality was established on 26 April 2013 in respect to “the long established local name.” Its name is derived from the former pastoral lease of the same name. Witchelina is located within the federal Division of Grey, the state electoral district of electoral district of Stuart, Stuart, the Pastoral Unincorporated Area of South Australia and the state's Far North (South Australia), Far North region. Mount Nor' West
Mount Nor' West Station is a pastoral lease in outback South Australia that once operated as a sheep station but is now a cattle station. It is located approximately south of Marree and north west of Lyndhurst. History The lease was taken up by Henry McConville in 1874, when it occupied an area of approximately . McConville already owned Myrtle Springs Station and would later acquire Witchelina and Angepena Stations. The station was acquired by Sidney Kidman at some time before 1899. At this time only a few cattle were being run on the eastern side of the property. In 1908 a flock of 14,053 sheep were shorn at the station. and the size of the station was recorded as being only . Myrtle Springs Station
Myrtle Springs Station is a pastoral lease that operates as a sheep station in outback South Australia. Description The station is located approximately south of Marree and north of Blinman. The property adjoins Beltana and Leigh Creek Stations. It is on the western side of the northern Flinders Ranges where the ranges stop and the flat plains of the Lake Torrens basin starts. The area is mostly sand dunes interspersed with claypans. History The pastoral lease was first taken up by Henry McConville in 1864. At that time the property was also known as Mount Scott, and the station occupied an area of . Shortly afterwards, the area was struck by drought until 1866. When the drought broke, the station's flock had been reduced to 3000 sheep. Unfortunately the rains that broke the drought made the ground boggy and further reduced the flock to 500. ''The Barrier Miner'' was a daily broadsheet newspaper published in Broken Hill in far western New South Wales from 1888 to 1974. History First published on 28 February 1888, ''The Barrier Miner'' was published continuously until 25 November 1974. Copies are available on microfilm and online via Trove Digitised Newspapers. The paper was revived briefly in 2005; an index to births deaths and marriages has been prepared which also notes additional publication dates between 16 December 2005 and 31 July 2008. Sir Sidney Kidman (9 May 18572 September 1935), known as Sid Kidman and popularly named "the Cattle King", was an Australian pastoral farming, pastoralist and entrepreneur who owned or co-owned large areas of land in Australia in his lifetime.
