Witchblade
''Witchblade'' is a comic book series published by Top Cow Productions, an imprint of Image Comics, which ran from November 1995 to October 2015. The series was created by Top Cow founder and owner Marc Silvestri, editor David Wohl, writers Brian Haberlin and Christina Z, and artist Michael Turner. The ''Witchblade'' comic was adapted into a television series in 2001, as well as an anime, a manga and a novel in 2006. A feature film based on the comic, titled ''The Witchblade'', was announced for a 2009 release, but was never produced. A second ''Witchblade'' television series was announced for development in January 2017, but there has been no update since. Top Cow relaunched ''Witchblade'' comic in December 2017 with the creative team of writer Caitlin Kittredge and artist Roberta Ingranata. Witchblade (2006 TV Series)
is an anime series loosely based on the American comic book of the same name. Not an adaptation of the original story, the series has a new setting and characters. However, the anime version is considered controversial by some fans because GONZO has announced that the main character of the anime is of Japanese ethnicity but is not Itagaki, Shiori, or Yuka, one of the previous bearers of the Witchblade. Instead, it is a new character named Masane. Although this series sets up an entirely new story with all new characters, it is set in the same continuity as the comic book. Story The lead character (and blade wielder) is Masane Amaha, a kindhearted, well-intentioned woman who is clumsy and awkward around the house. Having lost her memory during the Great Quake which ravaged Tokyo, Masane was found uninjured at the quake's ground zero with a baby in her arms. Witchblade (2001 TV Series)
''Witchblade'' is an American television series that aired on TNT from 2001 to 2002. The series is based on the ''Witchblade'' comic book series, and followed a pilot film that debuted in August 2000. Some of the episodes were written by Ralph Hemecker, Marc Silvestri (who also wrote the comic book) and J.D. Zeik. Yancy Butler starred as Sara Pezzini, Anthony Cistaro as Kenneth Irons, David Chokachi as Jake McCartey, Eric Etebari as Ian Nottingham, Will Yun Lee as Danny Woo, Conrad Dunn as Tommy Gallo, Kenneth Welsh as Joe Siri, and John Hensley as Gabriel Bowman, among others. The show was canceled in September 2002; there was speculation that the cancellation was connected to Butler's entering rehab for alcoholism. Top Cow Productions is an American comics publisher, an imprint of Image Comics founded by Marc Silvestri in 1992. Michael Turner (comics)
Michael Layne Turner (April 21, 1971 – June 27, 2008) was an American comics artist known for his work on ''Witchblade'', '' Fathom'', ''Superman/Batman'', '' Soulfire'', and various covers for DC Comics and Marvel Comics. He was also the president of the entertainment company Aspen MLT. Early life Michael Turner was born in Crossville, Tennessee on April 21, 1971. He was a student at the University of Tennessee, and graduated from the International Performing Arts Academy after which he moved to San Diego, California, where he developed an interest in comics. Christina Z is an American comics writer known for being the first woman to break onto the ''Wizard'' magazine Top 10 list of top-selling writers. She achieved this status for her work on the Image Comics title ''Witchblade''. She wrote and laid the foundation of the first 39 issues of the ''Witchblade'' series. Ron Marz (born November 17, 1965) is an American comic book writer, known for his work on titles such as ''Batman/Aliens'', ''DC vs. Marvel'', ''Green Lantern'', ''Silver Surfer'', and ''Witchblade''. Brian Haberlin is an American comic book artist, writer, editor and producer. He is best known as the co-creator of the ''Witchblade'' franchise and for his digital art style. Career Haberlin was born in Hawaii and raised in La Cañada Flintridge, California, where he soon grew an interest in drawing. David Wohl
David Wohl is an American comic book writer and editor. He is best known as an editor at Marvel Comics and Top Cow Productions and, at the latter, writing '' The Darkness'' and ''Witchblade''. Career David Wohl began his creative career as a high school intern at Marvel Comics. He later became an assistant editor on titles ranging from ''Spider-Man'' to ''X-Men'', and later still was promoted to managing editor. Angelus (comics)
The Angelus is an American comic character featured in publications by Top Cow Productions. Initially appearing in the first lineup of '' The Darkness'' in 1997, the Angelus has featured as an antagonist and occasional supporting character in issues of ''The Darkness'' and ''The Witchblade''.
