Witch (short Film)
''Witch'' (Egyptian Arabic: ساحرة, translit. Sahira) is a 1971 Egyptian television short film written by Tawfiq al-Hakim and directed by Henry Barakat. It stars Salah Zulfikar and Faten Hamama. The film is produced by Egyptian Television Network. Synopsis The events take place in the year 1948, where delusions dominate the mind of Souad and she believes that she can be linked to Ezz El-Din, the man she loves through magic, so she puts a piece of sugar that she brought from one of the impostors in his cup of tea for her lover, Ezz El-Din. She manages to marry him, but the magic turns against the magician, as Ezz El-Din suffers severe pain in his stomach and learns about it. Henry Barakat
Henry Antoun Barakat ( ar, هنري أنطون بركات, 11 June 1914, Cairo – 27 May 1997, Cairo) was a well known Egyptian film director. He was born in Shubra to a Melkite Greek Catholic father of Syro-Lebanese descent, and a Syro-Lebanese mother. His father, Dr. Antoun Barakat, was a physician and received the title of Beik by the King for the services he rendered., He directed some of the most famous films in the Egyptian Cinema. Tawfiq Al-Hakim
Tawfiq al-Hakim or Tawfik el-Hakim ( arz, توفيق الحكيم, ; October 9, 1898 – July 26, 1987) was a prominent Egyptian writer and visionary. He is one of the pioneers of the Arabic novel and drama. The triumphs and failures that are represented by the reception of his enormous output of plays are emblematic of the issues that have confronted the Egyptian drama genre as it has endeavored to adapt its complex modes of communication to Egyptian society. Early life Tawfiq Ismail al-Hakim was born on October 9, 1898, in Ramleh city in Alexandria, Egypt, to an Egyptian father and a Turkish mother. His father, a wealthy and illustrious Egyptian civil officer, worked as a judge in the judiciary in the Egyptian village of al-Delnegat, in central Beheira province. Salah Zulfikar
Salah El Din Ahmed Mourad Zulfikar ( ar, صلاح ذو الفقار; ; 18 January 1926 – 22 December 1993) was an Egyptian actor and film producer. He started his career as a police officer in the Egyptian National Police, before becoming an actor in 1956. He is regarded as one of the most influential actors in the history of Egyptian film industry. Zulfikar had roles in more than hundred feature films in multiple genres during a 37-year career, mostly as the leading actor. In 1996, in the centenary of Egyptian cinema, ten of his films as an actor and five of his films as a producer were listed in the Top hundred Egyptian films of the 20th century. Salah Zulfikar was one of Egypt's heroes in its battle against the occupation while serving in the police. Faten Hamama
Faten Ahmed Hamama ( ar, فاتن حمامه ; 27 May 1931 – 17 January 2015) was an Egyptian film and television actress and film producer. She was the first wife of Ezz El-Dine Zulficar. She made her screen debut in 1939, when she was only seven years old. Her earliest roles were minor, but her activity and gradual success helped to establish her as a distinguished Egyptian actress. Later revered as an icon in Egyptian cinema. In 1996, nine of the films she starred in were included in the Top hundred films in the history of Egyptian cinema by the cinema critics of Cairo International Film Festival. The Egyptian Television Network is a television service run by the Egyptian Radio and Television Union. It commenced programming in 1960. Today it has more than three national channels, and several broadcast channels on satellite. Egyptian Arabic, locally known as Colloquial Egyptian ( ar, العامية المصرية, ), or simply Masri (also Masry) (), is the most widely spoken vernacular Arabic dialect in Egypt. It is part of the Afro-Asiatic language family, and originated in the Nile Delta in Lower Egypt. Adel Emam ( ar, عادل إمام; born 17 May 1940 is an Egyptian film, television, and stage actor. Saeed Saleh also credited as ''Sa'eed Saleh Ibrahim''; ( ar, سعيد صالح إبراهيم) (July 31, 1940 – August 1, 2014) was an Egyptian comedian actor. Biography Saleh earned his bachelor of arts degree from Cairo University in 1960. He is most famous for his theatre roles in Al Ayal Kibrit and Madrast Al-Mushaghebeen along as acting in almost one third of the Egyptian movies making him the most actor to act in films in the world. In 1974, he acted with Salah Zulfikar in ''In Summer We Must Love.'' He was imprisoned in November 1995 for one year, due to his possession of drugs. A short film is any motion picture that is short enough in running time not to be considered a feature film. The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences defines a short film as "an original motion picture that has a running time of 40 minutes or less, including all credits".
