Wisconsin Highway 177
Wisconsin Highway 177 (WIS 177) was a state highway in Wisconsin, United States. It traveled from WIS 42 to Point Beach State Forest. Route description Starting at its western terminus, WIS 177 traveled eastward from WIS 42. It then curved southeast and then back east again. Continuing east, it abruptly ended next to Lake Michigan. History In 1951, WIS 177 was formed. The route resembled a spur of WIS 42. It traveled from WIS 42 to the Point Beach State Forest. During its existence, no significant changes were made. Around 1985, CTH-V extended east towards the state forest, superseding the whole of WIS 177. The change remains like this to this day. Mishicot, Wisconsin
Mishicot is a village in Manitowoc County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,442 at the 2010 census. The village is adjacent to the Town of Mishicot. History This area of Wisconsin was originally occupied by the Menominee, Potawatomi and Ho-Chunk peoples. By the end of French rule over the area in 1763, the Potawatomi had begun a move to the Detroit area, leaving the large communities in Wisconsin. Later, some Potawatomi moved back from Michigan to northern Wisconsin. Some but not all Potawatomi later left northern Wisconsin for northern Indiana and central Illinois.Edmunds, R. David (1988). State Trunk Highway 42 (often called Highway 42, STH-42 or WIS 42) is a state highway in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. It runs for north–south in northeast Wisconsin from Sheboygan to the ferry dock in Northport. Much of the highway is part of the Lake Michigan Circle Tour from the eastern junction with U.S. Highway 10 (US 10) in Manitowoc to its junction with WIS 57 in Sister Bay.
