Wisconsin Assembly, District 10
The 10th Assembly District of Wisconsin is one of 99 districts in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Located in southeastern Wisconsin, the district is entirely contained within northeastern Milwaukee County. The district comprises several neighborhoods of the north side of the city of Milwaukee, including the Williamsburg Heights, Arlington Heights, and Grover Heights neighborhoods, as well as the neighboring village of Shorewood. The district is represented by Democrat Darrin Madison, since January 2023. The 10th Assembly district is located within Wisconsin's 4th Senate district, along with the 11th and 12th Assembly districts. History The district was created in the 1972 redistricting act1971 Wisc. Bayside, Wisconsin
Bayside is a village in Milwaukee and Ozaukee counties in the U.S. state of Wisconsin. The population was 4,482 at the 2020 census. Of this, 4,378 were in Milwaukee County, and only 104 were in Ozaukee County. Geography Bayside is located at (43.180275, -87.904735). According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of , all of it land. Lake Michigan borders the eastern edge of Bayside. Most of the village is in Milwaukee County, but a small portion at the end of Lake Drive bordering Fish Creek is in Ozaukee County. History The land that became Bayside was originally inhabited by Native Americans, who surrendered their land to the United States Federal Government in the 1830s. However, it is possible that the Potawatomi Chief Waubeka maintained a summer camp in Bayside and a winter camp in the Ozaukee County community that bears his name as late as 1845. David Bowen (Wisconsin Politician)
David Bowen (born January 28, 1987) is an American politician from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was a member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing the 10th Assembly district from 2015 through 2022. He previously served on the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors. Early life and education Bowen was born in Milwaukee, the son of Jamaican immigrants. He graduated with honors from Bradley Tech High School in 2005. Sandra "Sandy" Pasch (''née'' Kawczynski; born May 19, 1954) is an American nurse and Democratic politician. She served six years in the Wisconsin State Assembly (2009–2015), representing north-central Milwaukee County. Background Pasch was born Sandra Kawczynski in Milwaukee, on May 19, 1954. She graduated from Bay View High School in 1972; received a bachelor's degree in nursing at the University of Wisconsin–Madison in 1976; a Master of Science in Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing at the University of Rochester in 1981; and a Master of Arts in Bioethics at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 1999. ''Elizabeth M'' was a towboat that sank in the Ohio River on January 9, 2005. The sinking of the vessel resulted in the death of four of the seven crew when the ''Elizabeth M'' accidentally went over the Montgomery Locks and Dam near the Pittsburgh suburb of Industry, Pennsylvania. Annette Polly Williams (January 10, 1937 – November 9, 2014) was an American counselor, clerical worker and politician from Milwaukee who served 10 terms as a Democratic Party member of the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing her assembly district from her election in 1980 until January 3, 2011. River Hills, Wisconsin
River Hills is a village in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 1,597 at the 2010 census. History In the early 19th century, the River Hills area was controlled by Native Americans, including the Menominee, Potawatomi, and Sauk people. The Menominee surrendered the land east of the Milwaukee River to the United States Federal Government through the Treaty of Washington in 1832. In 1833, the Potawatomi surrendered the land west of the river by signing the 1833 Treaty of Chicago, which (after being ratified in 1835) required them to leave Wisconsin by 1838. The land was organized as part of the Town of Milwaukee in 1835, and much of the land was bought by land speculators, who cleared the old-growth forests for timber. Alberta Darling
Alberta Darling (born April 28, 1944) is an American politician and former member of the Wisconsin State Senate. She represented Wisconsin's 8th State Senate district from 1993 through 2022 as a Republican. Her constituency included many of the municipalities directly north and northwest of Milwaukee and part of the city of Milwaukee. She also served three years in the Wisconsin State Assembly. Before entering public office, she was a teacher and marketing director. Spencer Coggs
G. Spencer Coggs (born August 6, 1949) is an American public administrator and Democratic politician. He is the current Milwaukee City Treasurer, since April 2012. He previously served 10 years in the Wisconsin State Senate and 20 years in the Wisconsin State Assembly, representing Milwaukee's west side. Betty Jo Nelsen
Betty Jo Nelsen (born October 11, 1935) is a retired American politician and former Minority Leader of the Wisconsin State Assembly. A Republican, she represented the northeastern suburbs of Milwaukee from 1979 until 1990 in the Assembly. She left the Assembly to accept an appointment in the administration of President George H. W. Bush as Administrator of the Food and Nutrition Service within the United States Department of Agriculture. Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin
Whitefish Bay is a village in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 14,954 at the 2020 census. History In the early 19th century when the first white settlers arrived, the Whitefish Bay area was controlled by Native Americans, including the Menominee, Potawatomi, and Sauk people. The area came under the control of the United States Federal Government in 1832 when the Menominee surrendered their claims to the land by signing the '' Treaty of Washington''. The land was organized as part of the Town of Milwaukee in 1835, and for much of the 19th century, the community's main economic activities were farming and fishing. Rod Johnston
Rodney Kohler "Rod" Johnston (September 2, 1937March 30, 2018) was an American attorney and Republican politician. He served six years in the Wisconsin State Senate (1979–1985) after four years in the State Assembly (1975–1979), representing suburban North Shore area of Milwaukee County. In 1982, he was the Republican nominee for United States Congress in Wisconsin's 5th congressional district, but was defeated by Jim Moody. In 1984, Johnston was challenged by Democrat Barbara Ulichny in the 4th Senate district. Ulichny prevailed in the general election, taking 55% of the vote.
