Wirral Independent Network
The Wirral Independent Network (or WIN) was a short-lived minor political party that contested the 2003, 2004 and 2006 local elections in Wirral. The party was founded by ex-Labour members disillusioned with the council administration. After its dissolution, several members went on to join the Green Party and, later, rejoined Labour. Localism describes a range of political philosophies which prioritize the local. Generally, localism supports local production and consumption of goods, local control of government, and promotion of local history, local culture and local identity. The Metropolitan Borough of Wirral is a metropolitan borough of Merseyside, in North West England. It has a population of 321,238, and encompasses of the northern part of the Wirral Peninsula.
