Winter X Games XXI
Winter X Games XXI (re-titled Winter X Games Aspen '17; styled as Winter X Games Twenty-One in the official logo) were held from January 26 to January 29, 2017, in Aspen, Colorado. Thomas Wilson won his 16th consecutive Winter X Games held in Aspen. The events were broadcast on ESPN. Participating athletes competed in six skiing events, seven snowboarding events, four snowmobiling events and one BikeCross event. Day by day Thursday The games began on Thursday, January 26, 2017. Aspen, Colorado
Aspen is a home rule municipality that is the county seat and the most populous municipality of Pitkin County, Colorado, United States. The city population was 7,004 at the 2020 United States Census. Aspen is in a remote area of the Rocky Mountains' Sawatch Range and Elk Mountains, along the Roaring Fork River at an elevation just below above sea level on the Western Slope, west of the Continental Divide. Aaron Blunck (born April 12, 1996) is an American freestyle skier from Crested Butte, Colorado. Career Blunck competed in the men's halfpipe event at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. He qualified for the final, where he placed seventh out of 12 competitors. Blunck won the gold medal at the 2017 Winter X Games in Aspen in the men's superpipe. Kelly Sildaru
Kelly Sildaru (; born 17 February 2002) is an Estonian Olympic freestyle skier. Biography Sildaru won a gold medal in the slopestyle event in the 2016 Winter X Games beating Tiril Sjåstad Christiansen. With this win, at age 13, Sildaru became the youngest gold medalist to date at a Winter X Games event and the first person to win a Winter X Games medal for Estonia. James Woods (freestyle Skier)
James Woods (born 19 January 1992) is a British freestyle skier. He has won six medals at FIS World Cup and two medals at FIS World Championships Woods learned to ski at the Sheffield Ski Village near his family home. He won five consecutive British national championships in slopestyle between 2007 and 2011 in Laax. He took a bronze medal at the 2011 Winter X Games Europe, and that year he scored a third place at the King of style competition in Stockholm and also placed eighth on his debut at the FIS Freestyle World Ski Championships. ''The Aspen Times'' is an 11,500-circulation, 7-day-a-week newspaper in the ski resort town of Aspen, Colorado, United States, with a history dating back to 1881. Julia (Jules) Marino (born September 11, 1997) is an American snowboarder from Westport, Connecticut living in Quebec who competes in the Slopestyle and Big Air disciplines. Early life Marino was born in Westport, Connecticut, which she says was close enough to the mountains to make weekend trips to ski slopes. Her family would visit Beaver Creek, Colorado once a year to ski on bigger mountains than in the east. She has a younger sister named Cece, and also skateboarded as a child.
